DisCos’ spokesman, Sunday Oduntan, in a statement to Daily Trust on Wednesday, said this was in recognition of the challenging effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economic and daily lives of the customers.
He stated: “We’re also completely aligned with the plans to ensure palliative measures, including free electricity supply to all Nigerians for two months, to make life easier, during the lockdown period.
The Ghana Water Company limited and the Electricity Companies of Ghana were mandated by their President to ensure a stable supply of water and electricity during this period. In addition, he mentioned that there'll be no disconnection of supply of electricity and water,a Ghana will absorb the water bills for all Ghanaians for the next 3 months.
ReplyDeleteI would say it's a commendable effort by the government.
Another way I look at this is that our government don't want to be outdone by our noisy neighbours, Ghana.
Anyhow, it's all good
