The Embassy sent text messages and email to applicants who already had confirmed interview dates on Wednesday.
“As of March 18, 2020, the United States Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria is cancelling routine nonimmigrant visa appointments,” the mail seen by BusinessDay read.
It added that it “will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.” but explained that application fees already paid by applicants would remain valid in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment.
Na wa....it is not a small thing
ReplyDeleteThey can shove their visa, we don't need it now
ReplyDeleteSo what happens to the fee if they don't fix a new date within the next 1 year? Jokers.
ReplyDeleteHnmmm
ReplyDeleteGot mine on my way home yesterday, my little cousin got his as well. Odiegwu jare
ReplyDeleteSo there are people trying to travel to Usa during this virus issue. I doubt they know how serious this is
ReplyDeleteAnd you think most people applied now?
DeleteThe application was long before the pandemic.
DeleteI dint get any message but i booked my interview for June anyways
ReplyDeleteMine was for April and my lil cousin 31st March.
DeleteIs it this same United States that I am in now and know what is on ground that Nigerians are applying to come to?
ReplyDeleteplease tell us what's on ground apart from Corona so that people will be rightly informed.
DeleteApart from Corona, all the residents of US have quarantined themselves and most of them have been laid off their jobs. I wonder the attraction again
DeleteYes oh, someone I know recently traveled into the USA via New York to have her baby. But she had the visa before all these. I'm like in these times? Why take such a risk?
DeleteLeave them alone, let them all come. Before you came in yourself, were you not warned??
DeleteAnon 15:52, easy with the exaggeration. All the residents of US are not in quarantine. They were still warning Spring breakers yesterday to limit their parties and go home. And it is also quite an exaggeration to say most of them have been laid off. There are 58 states in the US, and the rate at which each state is affected by the outbreak varies.
DeleteIn my city, I still went to church yesterday and eventhough it was not as full as before, people still came to church. Grocery stores are hiring like crazy right now because they need to restock.
Most people losing jobs are in the restaurant business and some energy company staff that have been furloughed.
Let's be careful with the kind of information we pass around so we do not misinformation.
I come in peace please, no insults.
Edit *50 not 58 states
DeleteEdit *50 not 58 states
Delete*Misinform not misinformation
*Anon 15:53 not 15:52
