President Buhari Told To Reduce House Rent, School Fees And Provide Free Sanitary Wares

Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to compel house owners in the country to slash their rents by 50 percent and to compel public and private school owners to reduce their school fees by 50 percent.

He also advised that lending interest rate for businesses should be slashed, while payment of mortgage should be suspended.

Shehu Sani believes such measures would help reduce the suffering that would accompany the spread of the COVID-19 disease in the country.

His tweet on Thursday reads

“What our Govt should do, compel landlords to slash rent by 50%.
Compel public and Private schools to slash tuition by 50% [and] reduce lending interest rates for businesses to 1%.
Suspend payment of mortgages
-Provide free sanitary wares and sanitizers to women and children. #CoronaVirusNigeria.”

*The govt should also use all these monies retrieved from looters to make sure that those who will not be able to earn any money when there is a shutdown will still be able to feed.Other Countries of the World have announced measures to help their citizens survive the Coronavirus era,Nigeria must do the same -MUST!!!

    1. Yes, but first the govt has to make transfers to citizens of these properties. You can't just make pronouncements like that without adequate provisions.

    1. Really.. I am a tenant but this is totally wrong. You can't force people to bring down the cost of private business. If government provides affordable housing for her citizens, who will bother with landlords? The cost of private housing will fall, naturally.
They know what to do. They just don't care about us..

  15. I haven't built a house yet but this is nonsense! The government does NOTHING for its citizens and many people tie their tummies so they can build and have properties. Some build houses with their sweat and blood so they can survive. Now you want to tell them to slash their rents when you haven't done the needful. If the prices of transport and foodstuff reduce, then the rent can go down.

  16. Sebi na Dem build house wey them go compel landlord to reduce rent? Them no collect tax for this year for that property? They should tell govt to build house for the masses at such landlord shakara go drop. They should also remember that rent is some of these retiree source of income. Reducing it will affect them negatively
