The sad incident occurred on Sunday, 8th March during a match between his team and Katsina United in Lafia, Nasarawa state.
Martins was rushed to a hospital after he was attended to by medics on the field but was pronounced dead a couple of minutes later.
Confirming Martins’ death, Chairman of the League Management Company, Shehu Dikko, said the league regrets the passing of the young man in his prime.
Dikko also called for a full autopsy to reveal the real cause of the player’s death.
He said, “We commiserate with Nasarawa United and the immediate family of the late player.
“It is hoped that the findings of the autopsy would inform subsequent measures, if any that has not been addressed by the existing standard procedure.”
The LMC stated that it would engage the club and the player’s family to offer support and succour.

ReplyDeleteI watched this video of how Nigerians die for free and in vain.
ReplyDeleteI saw an onlooker with the first aid aprons and he couldn't do CPR neither was there an AED nor a waiting Ambulance, sadly Chieme might have been a tax payer.
There was a waiting ambulance but guess what, the ambulance was not working.
DeleteThe guy died a cheap death because this country is a useless nd failed state dat is backwards in everything, i just feel sad the poor guy dat trying 2 provide for himself nd family
Kai! Failed country. May his soul rest in peace. Amen
DeleteTher was no ambulance, the Peugeot car in the field could not start, there was no medical person on ground, no first aid in the field.
DeleteBy the time they rushed him to the hospital in the press bus,he was pronounced dead dead 2 minutes later. Nigeria is a failed state,it has collapsed from all angles, this is a very avoidable death, was there first aid on ground,a trained medical personnel or an ambulance to convey him. He wont be dead if we had the necessary things in place
May his soul rest in peace.
