I am happy for them that Chiomas was caught early and the others are negative. But to stop this pandemic, we need to re-strategize. They had no symptoms but were given the test because of their status in society. Meanwhile the people with symptoms haven’t had the test yet. Nigeria is wasting kits on politicians and the upper class whilst the masses suffer with poverty and the virus. ReplyDeleteThe #1 problem is, Nigeria does not hv enough test kits. Only the highly connected and privileged can afford it and / or have access to it.
If only there were tests, I swear the number of positive would be in the thousands!! That is just in Lagos alone! So many people with influence & affluence are positive out there. They won't come out and say it or even TikTok their day to day symptoms, how they are dealing with it per medical advice. How they are protecting their loved ones against the virus in them.
If only our people in the entertainment industry who are positive, could come out to announce their status. It will be the strongest, most effective sensitization campaign to curb the spread. But in Naija when it comes to health & diagnosis, everything is hush hush, leaving all to speculations and ignorant conclusions.
God help and heal our land. Amen.
