Presidency Renames Northern Elders Forum 'General Without Troops'

Professor Ango Abdullahi on Sunday signed a long-winding statement on many issues relating to the North, and purportedly to the country.

The former vice chancellor signed the statement under the banner of Northern Elders Forum (NEF). Hearing that title, you would think the body was a conglomeration of true elders. But the truth is that NEF is just Ango Abdullahi, and Ango Abdullahi is NEF.

It is a quasi-organization that boasts of no credible membership, and its leader is akin to a General without troops.

Before the 2019 presidential election, the one-man army called NEF had shown its antipathy against President Muhammadu Buhari, and its preference for another candidate. They all got beaten together.

NEF is merely waving a flag that is at half-mast. President Buhari steadily and steadfastly focuses on the task of retooling Nigeria, and discerning Nigerians know the true state of the nation. They don’t need a paper tiger to tell them anything.

    2. Ango Abdullahi really worked for Apc ooo.

With his propaganda and that of Amaechi, Junaid Mohammed, Debola Williams, Chude Jideonwo, Kayode Ogunsomething, etc they turned Nigerians against Jonas govt (although Jona sef mumu).

So, Ango is now a person non grata in Buhari's regime?

  4. Useless government, was the point raised by the body valid? If yes why not address the issues instead of using war of words to try to debased what they have said. In better clime government take the issue of security seriously no body will invest in a country with no security and peace of mind where you could be kidnapped anyhow. Buhari has lost touch with reality and is like he is living in a bubble, but mind you the bubbles will burst one day. Don't know what is wrong with my country men, celebrating mediocrity and flogging over issues that need serious attention. What does it cost a country to be serious about security of lives and property and to make the people very valued. All this useless rhetoric from the government must stop and they should wake up to their legitimate duties already.

  9. It's so sad that this current government treats serious issues with kid gloves and handles criticism like spoilt kids. Why not sit down for once and listen to what people are saying? Gradually, cultism is coming back and crime is on the increase but they seem to be nonchalant. You criticise them, they start accusing you and digging up dirt about you.
