Firstly, that word 'lucifer' in the English translation of isaiah is a borrowed word.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, the phrase 'Morning star' is used to describe a ruler/ throne, which is why in Rev 2:28, the 'morning star' is transferable to man Mt25:21.
Gen 1:16; Rulership was given to two lights; one(the greater light) in the morning(day), the other(the lesser) at night. So the ancient Hebrews gave the title of 'Morning Star' as figurative for the Greater ruler. In the beginning man was 'The greater ruler of the earth (Morning Star) until he traded with the devil, who then became 'The greater ruler'(morning star). Jesus or Yehu'shua now on behalf of man reclaim the 'The Greater Throne of the earth'(philp 2:9,10). The name Lucifer was borrowed during translation to English. This, i think is the story of the morning star.I'm open to corrections though. (Ifeoluwa)

ReplyDeleteLucifer was when he was an angel. In fact, he was described as very beautiful with an angelic glow leaving one awestruck. Lucifer was his name when he was still in God's light BUT when he was given the fallen status, he became Satan (culled from when he was under the foot of Archangel Michael).
For those deadset on the perceived biblical notions, there's no explicit mention if the two were one and same. Could be two different entities but still dark spirits. 🤷🏻♀️

The bible is clear on Lucifer being satan. Ezeikel explains candidly about the glory and beauty and light Lucifer carried before iniquity was found in him and then he was thrown down from heaven and afterwards the bible changed his name to Satan. The Hebrew word translated “Lucifer” means “shining one.” The Septuagint uses the Greek word that means “bringer of dawn.” Hence, some translations render the original Hebrew “morning star” or “Daystar.” But Jerome’s Latin Vulgate uses “Lucifer” (light bearer), and this accounts for the appearance of that term in various versions of the Bible.
Who is this Lucifer? (Isaiah 14:3) Selfish pride prompted Babylon’s kings to elevate themselves above those around them. So great was the arrogance of the dynasty that it is portrayed as bragging: “To the heavens I shall go up. Above the stars of God I shall lift up my throne, and I shall sit down upon the mountain of meeting, in the remotest parts of the north. . . . I shall make myself resemble the Most High.”—Isaiah 14:13, 14.
“The stars of God” are the kings of the royal line of David. (Numbers 24:17) From David onward, these “stars” ruled from Mount Zion. After Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem, the name Zion came to apply to the whole city. Under the Law covenant, all male Israelites were obliged to travel to Zion three times a year. Thus, it became “the mountain of meeting.” By determining to subjugate the Judean kings and then remove them from that mountain, Nebuchadnezzar is declaring his intention to put himself above those “stars.” Instead of giving Jehovah credit for the victory over them, he arrogantly puts himself in Jehovah’s place. So it is after being cut down to the earth that the Babylonian dynasty is mockingly referred to as the “shining one.”
The pride of the Babylonian rulers indeed reflected the attitude of “the god of this system of things”—Satan the Devil. (2 Corinthians 4:4) He too lusts for power and longs to place himself above Jehovah God. But Lucifer is not a name Scripturally given to Satan.

DeleteI have never felt that Christ was my Lord and saviour, I view him as more of a big brother of sorts. I have never held anything against Satan either. I have never felt that Satan was evil, families have disagreements all the time and families are messy, if heaven can have problems between brothers and a father how much more things on earth. If things were so bad between Lucifer/Satan and God then why would he still have access to heaven? Truth is, we have been fed a half baked story. Even the same Bible says the half has never been told, we should take all Bible stories with a grain of salt, because we do not know the truth and a great lot has not been revealed to us. If one is to believe that all creations came from one source, God, then Jesus and Satan would be aspects of God, as are all of us on earth. There is nothing but God in the world, everything else is just personalities playing out an elaborate performance.
