Senator Shehu Sani Reportedly Arrested For Collecting Bribe On Behalf Of The EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has confirmed the arrest of the former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani.

“He is now being quizzed in our Jabi headquarters in Abuja”, the source told P.M. News today.

According to the source, Sani collected money from the chairman and CEO of ASD Motors, his name sake Sani Dauda, under the pretence of passing it as bribe to EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu.

Sani Dauda was a former chairman of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited(PAN). His ASD Motors is a major car dealer in Abuja.

The exact amount could not be confirmed But some reports say it was $20,000.

“The case has been on for sometime. He was granted administrative bail and told to report weekly. But he breached the terms of the bail. Hence his arrest today”, the EFCC source said.

Shehu Sani, a human rights activist, was elected senator in 2015, under the All Progressives Congress platform. When he could not get the party’s ticket in 2019, he ran on the ticket of the Peoples Redemption Party, but lost to Uba Sani of the APC.

He has been a trenchant critic of the APC government, both in Kaduna and Abuja, since then.

  5. When they loose elections and know that they have a pending date with justice, they become social media activists deceiving the politically naive. This is why he was very vocal forming concern for the masses... "Concern" that made him buy transistor radios as constituency project. Oshisko.

    2. 20,000 dollars to bribe EFCC? Na lie! It's a setup. He was probably sent the money for something else and the sender later claimed it was for bribe. I won't be surprised if all charges against the PAN guy is dropped once Shehu is locked up. Remember Farouk that was caught on tape collecting bribe from Ote$? Did they do anything about it till date?

  7. Just $20,000??? $20,000?? That is what he collected as bribe? A former senator? 20,000 USD is not even up to what I pay as school fees for my son at the Florida state university.. Haaa! Criminality is truly inherent in politicians

    1. Exactly why I doubted the claim! What is $20k to a Nigerian politician let alone one as vocal as Sen. Shehu Sani who is a major critic of this administration.
Personally, I believe he has way too much to loose to let a meagre $20k ruin his reputation...
