PFN’s National President of the fellowship, Rev.(Dr.) Felix Omobude lashed out at the Ministry of Interior over the imposition of a compulsory N30,000 charge licence for Christian worship centres for the conduct of statutory marriages in churches and N21,000 for each marriage certificate.
He alleged that it is an attempt to commercialize Christian marriages in the country.
Omobude called on the Federal Government to shelve the unpopular policy which he said is exploitative and targeted against Christian marriages in the country. He added that they will use every legal means to stop the new marriage certificate law.
He said; “This is very unfair and to the best of our understanding, the new law is targeted against the Church because the Traditional and Islamic weddings are exempted from paying the new marriage certificate fees.
“PFN is at a loss as to why Church Marriages should be in the exclusive list of the nation’s constitution. The PFN, therefore calls on the Federal Government to immediately shelve the unpopular policy targeted against Christian marriages in the country.
“If the Ministry of Interior is in dire need of funds, it should look elsewhere and resist the temptation of placing an extra financial burden on the Christians and their churches.

PFN leave them alone. How does that concern you?
ReplyDeletePray for sense. If they put that fee for only christians, how is that not a problem? Or how won't it concern them?
DeleteIs it only Christians that get married?why restrict it only to churches??
ReplyDeleteLolzzz...Since the bird has learnt to fly without perching, then the Hunter must learn to shoot without aiming...Lolzz
ReplyDeleteThanks boo for bringing me memories of this line..Good morning
DeleteSweet heart how are you..I like your 2nd name...Good morning
DeleteThe laws of the republic are sacrosanct. The Catholic Church do not have any problem with the laws, they have said so several times. Ensure your Church/ priest/ pastor is properly registered otherwise your marriage is null and void. Where have you seen people getting married in the mosques. They marry in their homes according to Islamic laws, it is not different from traditional wedding . What's even Church wedding , why do we need it after traditional marriages in our homes. It is just a waste of time and resources. Go for traditional and court wedding. If your parents permit go to the court with less than 8 persons, marry , go back home , serve coffee and biscuit . To your tent .. We like wasting money. My junior colleague offered to give his girlfriend 2 million naira to start a business and then they go for a small wedding. The girl refused , claiming her mum will never allow small wedding.

Thanks babes..I'm seeing ur former ID on posts, r u running both now?
DeleteThank you Alexander. You nailed it.
DeleteWe know the intentions of this government. If nothing works to plan, boarders will be left open for the actual inversion from North Africa for forceful conversion of non Muslims. God pass them
ReplyDeleteplease read the nonsense you typed. It is not a new law. The laws have bene there for decades,l guess you don't know only registered churches , pastors can officiate a wedding ceremony
DeleteOr ask yourself why it's only the Pentecostal body that is complaining. Its because this is an old law which mushroom churches that spring up in coners cant keep up with. They have to be checked or made to pay for the business.
DeleteThe fee should be extended to any form of Muslim marriage too
ReplyDeleteWhat do you expect from a minister who is babalowo in disguise and a chronic tebliq who govern the state to leave it in debts.
ReplyDeleteany means to get money and chop it coddedly.
Hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteIsn't it PFN that commercialized marriages in the first place?
ReplyDeleteCan Omobude quote one Scripture where God in the Old Testament or
New Testament instructed the Synagogue or Church to wed Christian couples?
It is a shame that marriage has been long commercialized by these churches.
In the Scriptures, marriage takes place in the Bride's father's place
and celebrations continues in the grooms father's place.
In John 2, Jesus and his disciples were invited guests in that marriage in Cana in
Galilee.
So who is deceiving who?
😉😉😉😉😉
They will definitely come for your head on this one.
DeleteNigerians hate to be told that they have believed or practiced a lie
all along.
Gbam! Gbammer!! Gbamest!!!
DeleteANG head don de correct o. Impossible nothing. There is hope even for our country Nigeria then.
This won't fly because it doesn't make sense
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm
ReplyDeleteIn any part of the world, for you to conduct a wedding as a priest, you must be registered with the government. So why do Nigeria Christians see everything as a target to the church? Have you ever seen an Iman conducting wedding in the mosque before? So why should they pay for the services they don't render? Churches conduct weddings, so they should register with the government. period
ReplyDeleteYou don't have money to pay for license but you have to pay for lawyers. 😂😂😂
