Dr. Fayemi who was reportedly briefed of the denial on Wednesday, got upset and dashed to the Embassy where he allegedly demanded for the reason he was rejected. He was told to contact the appropriate offices for further details.
Enraged, the Ekiti Governor tore the USA visa rejection documents and threw it at the Embassy officials.
With this development, the previously scheduled trip to the USA with the Governors Forum in the company of Alike Dangote to meet with Bill and Melinda Gates became nullified. It was cancelled.
It is alleged that the reason for the rejection of the Visa had to do with the gubernatorial elections of Ekiti State where it is believed that the election was rigged.

ReplyDeleteI really thank the US embassy for this decision especially the staff who had the courage to do this. I really wish all our politicians will always be denied Visa's so that instead of running away, they can sit back and fix this country to be more habitable for all. Thanks so much US Embassy, you guys rock!!
ReplyDeleteHonestly! Each and every one of them should be denied. Useless bunch. After ruining the country, they and their kids will be flexing overseas.
DeleteBy God's infinite mercies ALL NIGERIA'S POLITICAL CLASS WOULD BE DENIED VISAS

ReplyDeleteThe fight against the Nigerian dictatorship has begun. Poco a poco bit by bit una go see weeeen
ReplyDeleteSee your lives! Instead of Nigerians to fight their battle you want foreigners to do your dirty jobs. US isn’t any better. You all sit here and think US is heaven and governed by Angels
DeleteSee your life anonymous 09.49
DeleteSo you sit down and assume 1 comment sums up how no Nigerian wants to fight for the soul of their country????
Typical case of the danger of a single story
Did you ask that anonymous about their contributions and the efforts other Nigerians have made about fighting the dictatorship ????
So you sit down on your sofa and type that crap???
Who talked about the US being heaven or governed by angels?
Are you even alright?
9:49 yes, I said what I said! Come and beat me

DeleteHow is this possible??? His wife is a British Citizen and were both living in England at some point before his political career took off. I am amazed he doesn’t have a British Passport. Just think aloud oooo
ReplyDeleteRead very well. It's US visa and not British visa.
DeleteIf he's British, he doesn't need a visa to USA. XxbarbieXx
DeleteOjaelba, if he has a British passport he can easily get US visa.
DeleteA holder of British passport can travel to the US without visa
DeleteOh no you allowed your ignorance to becloud your sense of reasoning. With a British passport you don't need a US visa.
DeleteOh no you allowed your ignorance to becloud your sense of reasoning. With a British passport you don't need a US visa.
DeleteIf his wife is a Britico, and he has a Britico passport, he doesn't need the U.S.A visa to enter America, so he should go and request for his Britico PP
DeleteIt's not automatic. Even with a British passport, you have to apply for an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) visa waiver to travel to the United States.
DeleteThank you @ EV!!
DeleteOf course it’s not automatic. I have a British passport. Prior to obtaining my British passport, I’d been denied an American visa on my Nigerian passport many many years before I moved to the UK.
DeleteWe applied for ESTA as a family, my husband (through whom I became British) and my kids all had their ESTAs authorised. Mine was not. I subsequently had to apply for a US VISA which is valid for 10 years because it’s on a British passport. I’ve used the visa to travel to America every year for the last 5 years and I’m still asked at American immigration why my entire family have ESTAs and I have a visa on a British passport.
Even if he does have a British passport, y'all forget that he probably used his diplomatic passport to apply for the US visa. If that's the case, then the debate over having a British passport doesn't mean a thing.
DeleteAll of you hemorrhaging on my comment..my assumption is if his wife his British and hey age legally married excepted her forfeited his Citizenship or overstayed outside UK for over 2yrs(not sure what the law says now). I moved back to Nigeria a while ago.
DeleteHe doesn’t need to apply for a US visa if he has a British passport. And yes as a Governor he is entitled to a Diplomatic Passport. Diplomats don’t need a visa( my friend is a diplomat and and I recall she had her child in Canada 2yrs Ago, she got her visa but when she got to the point of entry she said she ch aged her mind last minute to use her Nigerian Passport because she was too tired and didn’t want ehn scrutinizing her so she used her Diplomatic Passport. Choi oversabi prople. I think their is more to this story
I have a British passport and I don’t have never applied for a US visa( you all should enlighten yourself). lol you need is a ESTA. Only if you have indefinite leave to remain then you need a visa.
Anonymous 12.28. What year did you naturalize yo being British?? Perhaps things have changed. Sincerely I think their is an error of judgement your application. You don’t need a visa on your British Passport! Same thing as going to the 174countries slowed with your Red P. Maybe you should talk to a lawyer.
DeleteIf his wife IS british...not HIS
DeleteTHERE is more to this story...not THEIR
Don't give us headache biko
@ anon 16:04 Pele ooo Oloriburuku English Teacher. Low life cunt
Delete20:11 why are you so rude and uncouth?
DeleteTake the correction in *English* and forget the *oloriburuku* which got your written English all muddled up.
I also had a headache trying to make sense of what you wrote.
Iwo na pele. Olodo 👏
DeleteInstead of dropping grammatical bombs, next time simply take to correction instead of getting all abusive.
I’m so happy if this is true.
ReplyDeleteBest News I have read coming out of that shithole Nigeria this year.. thank you US Mission to Nigeria and more please
ReplyDeleteJust negodu.
ReplyDeleteIf this news is true, then thumbs up to the US embassy.
ReplyDeleteToo many ignorant people celebrating trash. Fayemi have a diplomatic passport, they can't deny him visa. none of the national dailies and news networks carried this nonsensical lies
ReplyDeleteAlexander
You are wrong! He can be denied a US visa even with a diplomatic passport. Go do your research. A diplomatic passport from any country doesn't give you an automatic right to a US visa. If it does, there would have been no need to apply for a US visa by all who have diplomatic passports.
DeleteThank you Alexander. I was the one that commented about his wife being British. Low life people like to celebrate fake news. LOL! Half of them wish they have the opportunity to travel. They all jump on bandwagon and celebrate shit
Delete14.46 you are probably the relative of one of these politicians. God is going to catch all of you soon.
DeleteYou're also a lowlife, Oponu aiyerada!
DeleteSomeone that is on watchlist due to the riggotocracy that brought him to power.
Awon werey kwekwe.
11:03 Fayemi *has*.. . not *have*...
Delete14:46 so you classify people who haven't travelled abroad or to UK/US as "low life".
DeleteThat means travelling or living abroad is a big deal to you?
I'm sorry to say this but you are really the low life here.
The post said allegedly
ReplyDeleteBeen a gov, and having a diplomatic passport, they don’t go to the embassy for visas. I was once a PA to one before I relocated after the end of his tenure. Except the procedure changed the last six months.
They don't go to Embassy for visas, true. But they have to submit their diplomatic passports for visas. They just don't take their diplomatic passports to the airport and fly out.
DeleteGovernors are even supposed to have Diplomatic passports...I am thinking maybe he applied with his normal passport?if he was actually denied the visa then this should be the begining of visa denials, especially for those who travel to squander looted funds...
ReplyDeleteEven with a diplomatic passport nothing is guaranteed. The host country has the final say on who enters their country. Trump already mentioned this some time ago, and he doesn't give a hoot about stepping on toes of countries he doesn't send.
DeleteGovernors are not diplomats. Is going to a foreign country, was not to represent the country. Else, the ministry of foreign affairs would have handled or sorted the visa.
DeleteGovernors are not entitled to diplomatic passports.
The war for 2023 presidency just began, you will be left with no good image to compete. Idiot mobilizing N9.2b for Yahaya bello against Saturday election. You will continue to fail, just like your Jigawa counterpart. APC is a big scam

ReplyDeleteCan other countries please do the same to any public official who is corrupt and dont deserve their position?
ReplyDelete👏🏼👏🏼
ReplyDeleteAll countries should reject our politicians visa’s so they can stop spending our money outside.
Maybe UN needs to adopt this method, so they are denied entry to multiple countries rather than sanctioning a country and making the poor masses suffer more. Punish the corrupt individual only, don't interfere with or invade the country. But the governor may retaliate, like preventing immigration of oil workers for example. Let's hope his powers are minimal.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that the word "allegedly" was used because there seems to be no truth in some of the allegations. Where is it that you will have the opportunity to throw your papers at immigration officers when they are safely behind bullet proof glass. Except if he threw it at security lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks US
ReplyDeleteCan the UK High Commission also ban Buhari from ever visiting that country? With the way he frequents the place you would think they buried his placenta at Heathrow terminal 1.
