Rwanda Makes History By Launching The First Phone Made In Africa

The first smartphone made in Rwanda and the only one in the whole of Africa is here..

Rwandan President Paul Kagame officially launched a smartphone manufacturing plant in Rwanda on Monday, effectively paving the way for the country to become a technological giant.

The phone factory has the capacity to manufacture more than 2 million smartphones in a year. The launch of the Mara Phones production plant at the Kigali Special Economic Zone in Gasabo District is part of the broader Made in Rwanda initiative, on which the country has embarked on.

Speaking at the launch, President Kagame said he was very pleased with the development.
“I am very pleased to join you here today, to launch the Mara Phones factory, which is the first of its kind in our continent.

I bet you live right in my mind.

It's not only in other countries, right at their backyards, markets, schools they adulterate foods, drinks and students.

Nigerians , a people that claim to be so religious but mammon is enthroned in their hearts.
They can do any evil for money!

  11. Wow see silent success!! Can't believe that since GSM started (who remembers when it was widely called GSM haha), we haven't even thought of manufacturing one. Upon all our spending..buying the latests, from Nokia to Blackberry to Iphone to Tekno, we don't have a single to our name. If Aba boys got all the support we would have had our own brand, even if on Tekno levels. Innoson please epp us.

  12. This President is doing a lot for his country. Our leaders have failed us completely in Nigeria. All they know how to do is steal. Imagine the new Kosoko International airport in Ghana. I weep for my beloved country. Its not like we do not have the money or resources. God Blessed Nigeria with a lot of natural resources but the common man, cannot benefit from it.

    3. Yemi7Up because you do not know better.
You are not forced to watch but two mega companies from an African country that knows better teamed up to make mega bucks from your ignorance and that of your country.
Yes, they provide jobs for your youths but they repatriate a huge some of money made from your lazy youths who are so focused on being entertained rather than being enterprising.

At this stage of underdevelopment in your country , should your leaders and citizens not be promoting programs/activities on innovation that grow your economy instead of wasting your time on BVN and rewarding immorality.

Where would watching and voting BBN take you and your country in the next 5 years as Rwanda and the rest of the world build up their economy through innovation and industrialization?

      Think again.

  19. Tribalism, nepotism, corruption, injustice, greed and wickedness swill not let Nigeria be great.

Truth be told, Nigeria has lost relevance.
'Una go soon drink una oil ooo.'

If the manufacturer of this smartphone were from a certain part of Nigeria, a lot will be done to frustrate him and destroy his business by the powers that be.

Some Nigerians behave as if innovation comes from any tribe, it is not for the good of all.

What about it? Na made in Naija na.
