When my DIL had her fdt baby and I visited. I would stay in the room they gave me. I kept to my lanr. My don would cone to call me to join in the sitting room but I'll refuse, until she comes to invite me herself.
When I wanted to take anything from their bedroom, I knock, even if they answered I will still not go in but rather tell them what I wanted, just at the door.
If I wanted to go into the kitchen to cook, I took permission from her before doing thay. My DIL would say " mama why are you doing all these, it's your son's house".
I no want wahala o.
Same thing I did in my daughter's house, but I don't take permission to enter her kitchen, I don't sit in the parlour if she's with her husband and zi don't enter their bedroom if her husband is around.. That's me. No stress mother inlaw. Everyone is happy, no complain after I left.

Delete@Tutu. I don't joint my son and her wife in the parlour so that she will not say her MIL always like to come n sit with them so that I'll hear every of their discussion. If they need me to be with them, they come to my room and ask me to join them. I'm ok and comfortablble like that. She respects me a lot and she's like a daughter.
