What is this for crying out loud????
GREATESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST UNIBEN dont let this happen!!!
TOILET |
According to my source......
''No 1 issue on campus is darkness at night all around campus and sometimes our hostels making UNIBEN homely for hoodlums and hostile to students.
No. 2 the hostels have become hazardous to human health. You need to see our toilet; latrines in the village is better.
From the look of things, our toilets has been like this for our 20 years.
3. Many rooms do not have doors and bunks and naked wires are everywhere.
The Dean of students and the director of works have been contacted but all our plea have fallen on deaf ears.
The federal government is increasing school fees and we are paying all manner of dues and yet we are suffering''
Uniben is my Alma mater and at this point I am so ashamed that this is happening.................
Those in charge of attending to changes should please do something fast...THIS IS HORRIBLE.It was bad when i was a student in Uniben but not this bad....This is horrible!!!
GREATESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST UNIBEN....Aluta continua,Victory assertia...dont let this happen!!

ReplyDeleteAren't all public universities the same.
DeleteThe general education system needs a total overhaul.
Am not surprised. No be uniben again
ReplyDeleteWhich Uniben π did you school there? It wasn't like this during my time there..it wasn't a 5 star hotel but was habitable
DeleteThank you o @Kidjo. Some people that did not smell the 4 walls of Uniben will still be yarning dust
DeleteIs there any federal universities with amenities in Nigeria?
ReplyDeleteEven the private ones are becoming a dungeon.
Corruption is ubiquitous, the air that Nigerians breathe.
Yes o! There is...Federal University Dutse....
DeleteAir conditioned classes, well illuminated with mosquito repellers.
Tiled large rooms...
Running water/shower in bathrooms, running water all round the school, I can go on and on...
Sweetest part is, once anything goes bad, it is repaired or replaced immediately.
@Weildlich
DeleteIs this your Dutse in Europe?
I graduated from that school in 1989. Shame dey catch me
ReplyDeleteWhat are you saying Stella?.. it has happened already and getting worse..
ReplyDeleteI agree. My guy studied computer science but didn't see any till he graduated.
ReplyDeleteUniben has always been dirty from time, No be today
ReplyDeleteHow can one eat or study in this kinda environment... Not everyone is privileged to rent a private off campus apartment. This is frustrating

anonymous, it's Hall 3. Not hall four o
DeleteMy greatest UNIBen chai.
ReplyDeleteStella, na so UNIBEN be since i attended till i graduated. I moved off K during my final year. Sadly, most federal universities are like this while the politicians steal public funds and use them to fund their own private universities and send their children to top universities abroad.
ReplyDeleteGod is the ultimate Judge for the poor.
Are we not always too quick to blame politicians for stealing funds? Politicians are not to be blamed for the woes of this country. Rather blame the civil (evil) servants who loot funds and also aid politicians to do likewise. I am sure the University of Benin (like every government University or institution) receive funds to run the University. Let the school authorities be questioned on how the funds have been utilised and therein will lie the answer we all seek.
DeleteUniben has been like that when I was there, recently, they even encourage bucket of shut put before you enter the hostel, you can imagine that from a university
ReplyDeleteIt has always been like this na. I think it's even getting worse. nobody uses the toilets and bathrooms.
ReplyDeleteExactly. It has always been like this except on some mornings immediately after those cleaners work.
DeleteMain campus hostel sucks... Ekewan campus was better, don't know about now though..
ReplyDeletethe truth is these students don't have maintenance culture. if I remember correctly hall 2 was renovated a few years ago, they fixed all their toilets and changed the doors. but students being who they are messed it up.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much and God bless you for your truthfulness
DeleteThe truth is that those students re dirty, lazy and expect the cleaners to clean their butts if possible, I can remember during my time in school, the cleaners went on strike and the whole place was so dirty and smelly, we had no choice but to get brooms and clean up our floor , the other floors remained in dirts and the occupants didn't care to do anything about it π‘π‘.
They renovated the hotels like 2years ago but trust the students to do all in their power to mess it up. I'm not trying to excuse the necessary authorities for not doing their parts ok
Then if the students are destroying the property then it is for management to show them a diagram of how to properly use a toilet. Obviously, students come from all walks of life, maybe there are some who have never used an indoor toilet before, so it is for the school to provide instructions or the residence assistance to ensure everyone is given a tutorial the first day they move into the hostel. In my humble opinion we see these photos all the time and I find it hard to believe the students are the ones wrecking the property. I feel that they are not using qualified trades people or using good quality durable material. Cheap materials and unskilled labour leads to crappy results. I am even hard pressed to believe that there are qualified skilled trades people in Nigeria. The country just strikes me as a place where quality workmanship is of no value or desired by anyone. Any slap dash thing is accepted by all and sundry passing itself off as the real deal.
DeleteHow can there be change when even the Vice Chancellor will have his kids school out there in the UK. Did we not recently see how the Vice President and Emir of Kano all fly out (on National expense o, cos we know hey will not buy ticket out of pocket) to attend their children's graduation ceremonies in the abroad? They have no relationship with the plight of the nation. They can care less. If you like struggle through , if you like don't. They don't care. Abike Dabiri wikll not come and loud this one- if it is Nigerians doing well abroad, she will be sharping mouth.
ReplyDeleteFaculty is worst,u can't pass the staircase without covering ur nose or is it the roads hmmm portholes everywhere and dirty environments, dirty classrooms infact Uniben is totally messed up
ReplyDeleteNigeria my country, which way forward
ReplyDeleteAtleast this a government school, so I can say someone is definitely misappropriating funds. Igbinedion never had toilet in final year block, your backyard is your bathroom as at 2011. I just hope the hostels are better now.
