Mrs Dee's Corner - The Ideal Number Of Kids

The days when our parents had six children and more are almost over. Even those who love kids a lot have to consider their financial strength to determine how many they can comfortably and adequately take care of.

Parents of today have restricted the number of kids to have to at least two and at the most, three children.

My hubby and I agreed on having four kids and God hastened it in just two pregnancies.

I enrolled them for lessons this holiday period to keep them busy. One morning , on our way to school, I was beckoning on a bus driver to slow down and allow us cross the road, you know how danfo drivers can be sarcastic and brutal with their words. He didn't waste time in making a scathing remark that the children were many and he's wondering if I gave birth to all of them. His passengers laughed.

It's not as if I owe anyone an explanation on the number of kids I choose to have, but I just wondered if four children could be seen as too many and i wondered the number of kids considered ideal for the average family?

  1. For me 2 to 4 isn't bad. Depends on your financial strength. I want 3,I have 2 already. So what if next pregnancy is twins?

  2. I Used to hope to have 3 kids, but with the economy and how selfish my hubby can be i am stoping at 2 biko. I can come and watch my kids suffer for what they don't know of. Thank God it male and female so nobody can tell me about bearing child again. The foolish man is even looking at 5 kids while the one we have he find it difficult to provide.

  6. I have always wanted just 2kids(boy and girl) but my DH is insisting on 3. We have one now and with what I saw during her pregnancy, I dont even feel like having any other baby again. Well, she is 19months now and my hubby is ready to try again. I am just tired now because everyday he is talking about it being the right time for me to get pregnant again and heaven knows I am not yet ready.

  8. Well i would have loved 3 if I were rich like dangote and co. But present naija, 2 reach me abeg. Both financial aspects and physical maintenance nor easy

  9. You have to be involved. Daily homework from sch nko? Feeding time? Laundry? The more kids you have the more time you spend daily doing this and you end up exhausted. So its only about the money.

  10. I just want to have two or three kids. I want to give them the best of education. My parents gave birth to just four of us. I don't really fancy that large family.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I feel there's no specific number any family is restricted to.
But there are some importanti things you need to note.
    1. You might want alot of kids but do you have the resources to help you take good care of these kids? If your answer is no, just have a fw kids, two is not bad, you owe nobody any explanation, you'll thank yourself later.
Asides money, look at your personality, your profession, if you have alot of kids would you be bake to make time for them? Do you have a high tolerance level? Can you make certain sacrifices?
It's important to note that it's not just about the material care...
There's also nothing wrong with having as many as you want if you are up to the task in these areas.

I personally want many kids, like five because I'm going to do sll my best to train them to be closely knit. I want each kids to have siblings.i envision a large family in my old age. It's about what you want not even your parents should push you. If you want one have one, children is not the sole purpose of marriage.

  12. I find it funny when ladies talk about financial strain as the reason why they will limit the number of kids
to two or three. How much do you spend on hair extensions, those nails that look like vampires, the fake nyanshes
and how much does your phones cost?
How much do you spend on airtime to browse social media and gossip?
    Okwa ajuju n' ese okwuoooo
    😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
For me, I am grateful for the five he has given me and the one I adopted -what a cute child.
I am also waiting on him for my expectation -a football team. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻🎶🎶🎶🎶
Even possibly with more adopted reserves. By his grace, I will be driving them on a bus!

    2. I am not created to carry more than I can bear.that said, hair extensions etc are amongst the good things of life, you can't take the sole reason for having more kids to deprive yourself of enjoying life. Two is good to go! for me though.

    3. @14:51
Hair extensions, the "good things of life?"
Did I read you well or is my visual playing tricks?
      Ajujus ooo
How about my thick black hair that Baba God gave me and I am grateful for?
Why should I buy hairs of ladies that are probably of strange origins and call it
      'good things of life?"
Do you know that some of these are dead people's hair/hair donated to Hindu deities?
Note that I said SOME not all.
      Wawu!
I wish that some people will understand the "life in abundance that gives" and order
      their priorities well.
Anyway for me, plenty of kids around me make my days happy and my life enjoyable.
      No shoot off 😂😂😂😂😂💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻🎶🎶🎶🎶

  13. I was just thinking about the number of kids I wanted and opened the post to see this. I wanted six before, but bcos of age, I have reduced them to four. Meanwhile Mrs Dee, four children aren't much to have and the driver and his passengers are stupid and very silly for making sure remark and them leading him on by laughing.

  18. 3 is okay for me, it’s not easy raising kids, aside from the financial aspect, it’s a serious task that you must give your 100%. Hubby said he wants 5 but am sure he is joking, I told him I want 2 at most 3.

  19. As long as you would not have to beg for money to feed, clothes and school them, including money for medicine when they are sick, then do as you want. I stopped helping people with many children 3 years ago because I realised that the more you help them the more kids they have.

  20. I want just 2 but hubby wants 4 as the only son of his mum... As for MIL, her own is just born and leave the rest for her as a child bearing machine na. lol. Na my body and i know wetin my eye see for labour room, so 3 with enough spacing is perfect for me

  27. Raising children can be very very stressful. The men that are screaming 5 and 6, do u assist in their night feeds. The woman will carry for 9 months, raise them, work and is expected to perform in the bedroom. Wanted 4, 3 is enough for me.

  28. two girls and 2 boys just like my parents

I know I want a twins (girls) how do I plan it? Money is not the problem. Should I opt for Ivf? I don't want to birth another boy. I'm 29 years old.
