Lol, what of hml?
DeleteBiko what's the meaning of kmt?
Kmt - kiss my teeth?
DeleteKMT means Kiss My Teeth.
DeleteKiss mi teeth. It's a Jamaican slang for saying fuck off of I don't care.
DeleteKiss mi teeth. It's a Jamaican slang for saying fuck off of I don't care.
DeleteKmt doesn't mean fuck off or I don't care to Jamaicans. It means the equivalent of 'mstcheeeeww'. Please be guided accordingly. Merci😊
DeleteWait, what?! KMT means Kiss My Teeth?!😯
DeleteI thought it was short for Kermit oo. I'd always wonder wetin bring Kermit the Frog into the convo🙄🤨
Still wondering why I don't like abbreviations?

Bcus - because
Sic. What does that "sic" mean sef?
ReplyDeleteSic means the reporter is quotely the speaker directly especially if ''taabon'' dey instead...
DeleteIt's latin but often used when quoting original words with incorrect/slang spelling.
DeleteSIC - spelling-in-correct. Imo
Same in context .
DeleteUsed when quoting a sentence , word etc .
is "lol' English?
ReplyDeleteLet them not go and write that in exams
"Buh" instead of "But","Gurl" instead of "Girl","Cum" instead of "Come"(The real verb),"Serzly" instead of "Seriously"...the list is long but these came to mind.
ReplyDeleteIn addy for in advance
ReplyDeleteThis for me is one of the worst abbreviations!🤬
DeleteI dont think pipo(people), wee(will), pelzon(person), yelz(yes) and the likes are abbreviations. It's just a way of sounding funky. No serious minded person will use them in a formal setting except your village pipo are on your case.
ReplyDeleteI use BRB, SMH, Bcos, BTW etc, atimes when I'm too lazy to type them out in full.
Thank you.
DeletePipo and wee do not sound funky even in informal setting.
DeleteSo annoying.I get so pissed.
Pipo, wee, kee, nau etc is just phonetically spelling out Nigerian English exactly as pronounced every day on our streets. Abi is that not how most Nigerians speak when they are in their element?
DeleteAs for the pelzon, yelz etc, that’s basically they way Falz the Bad Guy and Jenifa speak. It’s not that serious guys.
*omo Iya Doctor*
Av instead of have, gud instead of good, 1daful instead of wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI strongly believe abbreviations are used to reduce letters in a word, but when you see some with almost same or even more, it sucks! words like- YHU (YOU), WEE(WILL), GURL (GIRL), OW(HOW), AIIDY(ALREADY), LOLZZZZZZZZZ
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteLike wee for will....seriously!
Good PM ...the day someone sent me that I say NA WA O
ReplyDeleteGM, Good AM, Good PM
ReplyDeleteThe way K annoys the hell outta me ehn, I pray I don’t angrily fling my phone one day...once u put K just know the conversation has ended for that day... I have a friend that does it all the time and I usually correct her, she learnt the hard way when she foolishly write k in her test... the lecturer purposely singled out her own for everyone to see!
ReplyDeleteI instead of Hi
ReplyDeleteAawwnn instead of aaww
ReplyDeleteThat awwwwn is very, very annoying
DeleteVery local 🤣🤣 'awnnn' how am I supposed to pronounce the 'n'?
Deletelmfao- laugh my F**king a** off, brb - be right back, hbd -happy birthday wllnp - wish you long life and prosperity , stellz -stalla, upandan (stella's favourite) - up and down...
ReplyDeletenow I know what BTW mean
ReplyDeleteSowii for sorry
DeleteK instead of Ok or okay. If you can type k what's stopping you from putting o before the k.
ReplyDeleteGurl is not bad. You know Americans pronounce R in every sentence that has it. Nigerians, we don’t.
ReplyDeleteThe one that get me piss is Good PM for good afternoon or Good AM for good Morning
ReplyDeleteYESSSS this one too! Ugh!
DeleteWYD (What you doing?) is annoying as heck! Immediately lose interest in any conversation that this abbreviation pops up in.
ReplyDelete'Am' is the one I can't stand. Meanwhile, Stella, I thought this was going to be a more interesting post. Your examples don't match my expectations. I was thinking more in terms of like Acronyms or something. I'll keep thinking though.
ReplyDeleteI use annoying abbreviations when I am not really in the mood to talk to you or I am just vexed at something or moody. My response na mood. lol
ReplyDeleteI hate all abbreviation word.i tell my son he should never send me a message with abbrivated words.cause I told him it makes spelling difficult and he doesit
ReplyDeleteAppaz - means apparently
ReplyDeleteRushands - please does anyone know what this means? The day I saw it I didnt bother asking 🤷🏽♀️
I use omw (meaning on my way) alot though 😁 maybe cos I'm always late 🤣
ReplyDeleteLolz was added to the dictionary. Why not try to find out first before getting irritated in ignorance?
ReplyDelete
