Woke up to this News....
Let us celebrate ours!!!
Ruona J, Meyer went undercover to investigate the people behind Nigeria’s cough syrup crisis and the documentary has broken several records since BBC Nigeria released it a year ago.
The document has won and been nominated for many awards. Most recently, it was nominated for an International Emmy in the ‘News and Current Affairs’ Category.
The documentary exposes the horrors of the opioid crisis that Nigeria is facing, as well as the corrupt forces behind it. The actual documentary hit 2 million views on Youtube.
The documentary prompted the Nigerian government to announce a reactionary ban on Codeine after months of trying to restructure and streamline its response to the codeine epidemic.
The 71st Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, honoring the best in TV programming, will be handed out Sunday, Sept. 22, and will be aired live on Fox starting at 5 p.m. PT from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. A host has not yet been announced.
The ceremony will be in conjunction with the annual Primetime Emmy Awards and is presented in recognition of technical and other similar achievements in American television programming, including guest acting roles.

ReplyDeleteGirls are doing wonders all over the world. Some foolish men looking for male children all over the world, hope you can see this amazing lady. Congrats girl.
ReplyDeleteOde!
DeleteSome comments ehn... Smh
DeleteBut the annon is right, some men be acting like female children are useless and cannot amount to anything.
DeleteI guess this woman has only girls and her horseband has been impregnating different women in search of a male child. You go dey alright anon 8:54
DeleteHugest congrats to our own lioness. Brains and beauty. This is what we should be known for.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS to Ruona in advance for winning the Emmy award. I am proud of you.
ReplyDeleteIn the era of copy and paste, dem say dem journalism, she deserves some accolades though I would have been most impressed if the journalist was working with a Nigerian media house. BBC has standards that must be maintained at all times. It has become an all comers affair in Nigeria. If you are able to generate a lot of revenue, equally better for you even if your production falls way way below standards. Again I’m sure she was given all the support she needed to do an excellent job. Bring that idea here, they will ask you how much you are bringing back after you have stayed away with the camera and camera man. Logistics kuma, you will have to be on your own..
ReplyDeleteStill congratulations to her. Not an easy feat. Nothing takes anything away from her achievement. I pray she inspires Nigerian female journalists even with all the odds against them.
*whispers* You know say no be this kind post your BVs dey like.
You reek of jealousy bitch!
DeleteKiks you made some interesting points
DeleteThe way some of you on this blog type curses on this blog is just sad. 10:33
DeleteYou need to do better .
😂😂😂😂 bleh....
DeleteAmazing!! Our very own!!!
ReplyDeleteI’m not celebrating this lady or her team. Unpopular opinion but I’ll say my mind.
ReplyDeleteDuring the production of this documentary there was a certain company they tried to blackmail and made the centre of their drama because they didn’t give in to certain demands. They rode on the prestige of the company to promote their documentary giving innocent people sleeplesss nights and unnecessary harrassment from overzealous health agencies. This company is highly reputable and has strict policies guarding their product sales. Even their agent admitted to that on the video. Ruono and friends craftily painted one man’s greed look like the company actively engaged in illegal sale of codeine. I’m glad the company is over it now and doing well.
Ruono and BBC, a little integrity won’t hurt.
Ivannah
Em***?
DeleteI like their products
DeleteAnon 9:14 you're a liar. I watched that documentary and no where did she paint Emzor company as a pharmaceutical company that is involved in illegal codeine sale. It was a manager in the company that was involved in it. The manager knew if he caught he'll be arrested and sacked hence the reason why he was very suspicious and extra careful. They even emptied the codeine in the toilet when the man left so it doesn't get into wrong hands. Even the other state she went to, they were selling openly in the factory but that Emzor man came to meet them at a hotel late at night. Stop lying and celebrate this lady's hardwork
DeleteMzo. Leave mata. Congratulate her
DeleteAnon 12:15 if you don’t have a clue don’t argue before you’ll be forced to bite your tongue. That’s all I will tell you.
DeleteAnon 13:32 Npki. I don’t congratulate and celebrate mischief.
Ivannah
You are a bloody liar. A documentary I watched with tears in my eyes on how one greedy individual was ready to destroy an organization built over the years through hard work and even worse cared less about the consumers of the product because in his own words, "the drug is in high demand by addicts".
DeleteDirty liar you're the one that will bite your vile tongue. If you're talking about something that happened behind the scene I can understand but no where in that documentary did she paint that company bad. It's obvious that manager is your sugar daddy that's why you're defending his criminal activities. Sorry go and look for another married man to suck dry. Dumbino
