Kumuyi, who gave the admonition during his sermon at the Deeper Life Bible Church, Headquarters, Gbagada, in Lagos said that real Christians must obey constituted authorities and shun violence.
Delivering his sermon entitled “The Believers’ Preservation Until the Day of Visitation”, Kumuyi said that Christians are strangers and pilgrims in the world and must be christ-like in their character, conducts and conversations.
The cleric, who read from Biblical passage, I Peter 2: 11-25 said that Christians lifestyle must reflect Christ in a civil society, saying that government derives their authority from God.
“Don’t attack the President of the country whether in words or in the newspapers or through internet.
Honour kings; don’t disrespect or dishonour the governors. Don’t disrespect leaders of the community and leaders in the church.
If we are to honour the governors in the states, how much more the Pastors”
He said that such remained the will and command of God.
He said that God wanted Christians to submit to the leadership He had given to them in the Church, community, country and corporate organisations.

I wish the average Christian was as he described above but nah! Atheists are even more Christlike than today's Christians! Pastors are even worst. 99% of them are fraud
I agree with you. Christians has become judgmental and in the words of Mother Teresa "when you judge, you can't love". Vicious words and poison laden statements they can't express themselves without.
DeleteGandhi said he like Christ but Christians are so unchrist-like.
Speaking the truth is not judging. Just saying.
DeleteWe can't honour leaders who are thieves stealing away our comfort and future...oga when the bible was talking it wasnt referring to leaders who were spilling innocent blood just all in the name to get into power.
ReplyDeleteLEP😛
All these Nigeria pastors are all confused, they are neither here or there please stay one lean and stop confusing the thunder that will fire all of you.
ReplyDeleteeesah...all where u put "Christian and chiristlike
ReplyDelete" just exchange with Muslim and Mohammed like" if you get the liver!
Hahahaha
DeleteWe should honor genuine leaders, not thieving leaders who deserve to be jailed or double-standard leaders.
ReplyDeleteNoted. May God help us.
ReplyDeleteIs Nigeria now a theocracy, feudalist state or monarchy that elected representatives, like Buhari can't be criticize? If Kumuyi has nothing of value to add to the national discourse, its better he closes his trap. Talk about men who are like two wedged swords who only end up confusing themselves and their blind followers.
