Methodist Priest Who Faked Own Kidnap And Demanded N3m Ransom From Church Members Has Been Arrested..

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a priest in the Methodist Church, Rev. Peter Adegoke Adewuyi for allegedly faking his own kidnap to collect ransom from church members and other individuals.

The Police also arrested one Sunday Oluwadare Adewole who was helping the priest in making calls to unsuspecting members of the public to demand ransom on the phantom kidnap.

The two suspects will be charged to court as soon as the Police conclude their investigations.

The 31-year-old priest was said to have lodged in a hotel in Ado-Ekiti and hid from public view from where he and his accomplice were making calls to the members of the public to pay ransom for his release.

He claimed that his ‘captors’ demanded N3 million ‘ransom’ before he could regain his freedom.

The development reportedly threw his church into confusion with members raising cash to pay the ransom for what turned out to be fake kidnap saga.

The phoney kidnap stunt was busted by the Police who intercepted and arrested the holder of the phone with GSM Number: 090785895** with which the N3 million ransom was being demanded from family members and
church members.

Unknown to the priest, he was being tracked to a location near First Bank in Okeyinmi area of Ado Ekiti where he went to pick the ransom.

While being interrogated by the Police, Adewuyi confessed to have masterminded his own ‘kidnap’ and demanding for a N3 million ransom.

The priest also confessed that he lodged at a hotel during the period of his self enforced disappearance from the public.

The two suspects are presently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the State Police Headquarters.

pray consistently to avoid being a devil's advocate.
what could've lured him into this mess....I guess the promise of easy money is always the lure for some people to take up a life of crime.
May God have mercy on him.

    3. ignorance will not kill some of you on this blog. the anonymous is correct..saying someones name is being dragged through the mud means trying to rubbish the persons name. God is God and will ever be glorified but his name can be dragged through the mud meaning they will want to rubbish it..

    4. 12:23, except u are trying to say that the priest's actions can negatively impact on ppl's perceptions of the CHURCH. Nevertheless, that wd be for those who prefer not to see it for what it is - a bad egg in the bunch. Other than that, anony 21:34 is talking about GOD HIMSELF and s/he is referring to an END RESULT (a fait accompli) not an ATTEMPT. Read and understand. No one can drag God's name in the mud. That is actually a contradiction in terms. What u have in mind is an ATTEMPT to drag His name in the mud. Even that will be seen as an excercise in futility, God being KNOWN as infallible.

  12. It's quite unfortunate but I'm not surprised. Methodist ministers are poorly paid, less than 30k monthly, Presbyters 50k, you keep hoping till you become a Bishop. These salaries are inconsistent and most have to rely on the church and members to survive. Most of their wives are teachers, nurses or petty traders. I'm not justifying the act but it was bound to happen somehow, they are human after all. Hopefully now, the church would review the salary or adopt ways to improve ministers lives.

    1. not an excuse...these are institutions with titles that have no eternal values...call to ministry is something you do voluntary. if God calls you he will take care of you. the church of God does not need any formal institution to win souls. what does it even mean to employ a priest or pastor? traditions of men

    2. I know of one that pays as low as 7k. But just as u concluded the amount paid isn't the issue . A greedy person will steal no matter what . He must have quoted the verse that says godliness with contentment is great gain Yet failed to b contented.
