Musa was said to have taken his daughter from his wife, who was deep at sleep, to an uncompleted building where he strangled her to death.
He confessed to have killed the girl but claimed he could not explain how and why it happened.
“I gave birth to my daughter out of wedlock and we are preparing for our wedding proper. I cannot explain why I took her life just like that.
“People are claiming I want to use her for ritual, but it is not true. I don’t know how it happened. People do not believe me. It is like somebody hypnotised me; in fact, this is very shameful to explain.”
When asked if he wanted to use the baby for rituals, as claimed by his neighbours, the suspect said: “God forbids. We, Magama people, do not use our children for rituals. That was why I cannot explain how I killed my own daughter. It is unfortunate.”
Policemen attached to the Nasko Division arrested Musa when he attempted to flee. Police spokesman Muhammad Abubakar said the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that he would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
