It was said that Osokan and his wife, both food stuff sellers, had locked their shop with padlocks after the day sales when the suspect with two others now at large came to break the padlocks and stole goods from the shop, which they sold to one Tunde, who was staying at Alaska area of Mushin, Idi-Oro.
The Prosecutor, ASP Kenneth Asibor, told the court that when Osokan got to his shop the following day, he discovered his shop had been burgled and he reported the case to the police.
He said the next day, a man who was identified as Yusuf Suleiman was caught stealing Techno phone K9 valued at N36,000 from neighbouring shop of one Mr. Andrew Anom.
According to Asibor, on his arrest, the suspect confessed that he and two others were responsible for stealing the goods in Mr. Osokan’s shop, adding that they always stole in the area and that they usually sold their stolen goods to one Tunde in Mushin.
He said, “Upon his confession, Suleiman was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by the presiding Magistrate Mr. T. O. Shomade, while the police were hunting for the other suspects and the said Tunde.”
