Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...........

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
FORBIDDEN TO EAT SNAILS:

Stella God bless you,I have never written a chronicle but today I will,Stella please help me post this.

I dated my wife for 4 years before we got married:...

I forbid snail,I am from Kwale, delta state and wifey is from isoko, while dating she could ensure any party we attend that I am not served any food cooked from snail, she loves snails and I am not against it,I only tell her to brush her teeth after every snail meal.

While married, I told her that she could cook her snail but she should be careful.

We are both blog visitors and I know she will read this, but I honestly don't care again.

I had an appointment in Abuja and that morning we made love like crazy because I will be away for 3 days,I got up and I hurriedly took the uber that I called, I forgot my fone at home but I couldn't go back when I realised it.

Got to airport and bang! I missed the flight,I knew I had also missed the appointment, because of the heavy traffic I decided to read newspaper and while away time.

After 4 hours I took a taxi home, I didn't meet my wife at home, she had gone to her shop,I want to the kitchen to dish soup and made Eba,the soup was vegetable soup with so many assorted, I sat down eating and picking all sorts of assorted while I take each swallow ....

Bang!!!I took one bite of something kind of crunching and I spat it out because I didn't understand the taste, Stella ..it was a snail!!!

I started shivering and had panic attack,I called my mum immediately, I told her and she said I didn't intentionally are it that it was OK.

I called my wife to come home, she came and saw my angry face and saw the food, she confessed that she has been cooking with snails but has never served me with it.

She has been what???I took my car keys and walked out,I want to an eatery and I was thinking all sorts.

The same woman I told of consequences of snails.what should I do?

Na wah!!!!

    1. First off: you were meant to be out of town for 3days, so the soup had no plan for u to partake if it.

Secondly: after accidentally eating it and you spat it out, ur mum told you there are no consequence bcos it was an accident. So all you need is just to always ask ur wife to have a separate pot for her snails which you will under no circumstances touch.

But bros, let's be realistic; in law, ignorance is no excuse. Which means whether deliberate or not, consequences will come calling. But for this ur taboo, accidents come with no consequence, are you sure you are not just starving for nothing?
Also, with the liberation in vogue and no allergies involved, why are you yoke under this kind of burden? May be you need to ask more questions and liberate yourself from what doesn't exist.
Everybody knows ogbono is forbidden in Asaba, but I bet you as a person know a truck load of Asaba indigenes who import ogbono from out of town and cook same to eat inside the same Asaba.

The time for your liberation is now, don't start a storm in a tea cup bcos what doesn't exist. Don't destroy your home or strain your marriage bcos of a yoke that doesn't exist.

That's how my husband too said they don't eat snail in his house, yimu. I prepared snail sometime last month, guy chop am dey ask for more and he didn't die. Now he's asking when next I will prepare some.
I'm sure your wife won't prepare it again now that she knows your reaction. C'est fini.

I didn't know it was dog meat. it was so tasty but when they told me it was dog meat, I could nor spit it out. what to do? I ended up asking for more cos it was so delicious. It's only snake, rabbit and lizard I haven't eaten. I heard they are good too and tastes nice. I'll try it one day but fried snail is still my best friend! Well every mallam to his kettle

    7. I can bet that all of you writing this rubbish are women sent directly from hell. What part of his write up you idiot don’t understand? So if snail was to kill him she would have taken the risk? What part of the you can eat your snail but please done cook with it for me you guys don’t understand? Superstitions or not, the man doesn’t eat snail simple as ABC.

    8. So......in essence she has been cooking with snail and you have been partaking and nothing has happened to you yet? Pray tell me then, what exactly was supposed to happen to you after eating snail? If it hasn't happened yet don't you think you are just being silly with your 'forbidden' food? As long as you don't have any allergic reaction to food, carry go.

    1. Wait let me tell u what it means to forbid something; my aunt does not eat snail personally and my grandmum said from when she was pregnant with my aunt, she herself couldn't stand it. Now if my aunt enters your house and you serve her food, she can smell it from a mile away. One time my coz mistakenly used the spoon she used to stair snail soup to dish her food, my aunt eat it and all her face swoll up less than 10minutes later.

That is what it means to forbid something no be this your own egocentric superstition type.

      Delete
    2. Sapphire, that's allergy. Your aunt is allergic to snail.

      Delete
  4. What are the consequences? Just be inheriting superstitions that have no hold over our lives. Also since you weren’t sure of what was in the soup, you should have made something else for yourself or gone out to eat. So because you don’t like snail, someone who does (your wife) shouldn’t eat it.

I was also told not to eat snail but guess what, I do and I’m flourishing. I think it’s a Delta thing cos my mum happens to be from that part and she told me “snail is forbidden” without any concrete reason. Your mouth like “I forbid snail” but you eat the one that God and placed in a woman or don’t you? 🙄

You eat snails even when your mum said it’s forbidden for you......no wonder you don’t have sense.

    3. Do you UNDERSTAND what he said Doppelganger? I'm surprised at your response. He told his WIFE not YOU, He forbids it, He told her the CONSEQUENCES! She went ahead and got MARRIED to him. What if he is a pagan? There's a difference if he didn't tell her. He did.

We should look at it from the point that she is unreliable, untrustworthy and undependable. I'm partly Isoko, till date we don't cook SNAILS or PERIWINKLES. Before my Dad died, we still never cooked it, no matter the dish my mom cooked. My mom also hates goat meat, till date because of the smell.
They courted and she COMMUNICATED with her INTEND!

      Delete
    5. Anon 15:37 you are clearly the one without sense. Firstly he wasn't supposed to be home so it's not the wife's fault and secondly he knows his wife eats snail so do you want her to suddenly stop just cause her husband doesn't

I know someone that doesnt eat dog meat for religous reasons(he is muslim), he visited his best friend one day and that one served him peppered dog meat knowing well that his religion forbids it. The man ate and went home, then the friend visited him weeks later and told him. This man was livid with anger. The friend made a joke about it that he didnt die after eating the meat so why the fuss. That singular act put a strain on their relationship, trust was broken. If you were the man what would you do?

  22. Oga;please in whatever you do,Dont use anger to take any action..Calm down and relax first and please you don't need to involve anyone in this either..

She didn't serve it to you,and to be sincere it's not fair if she can't cook what she likes simply because it's forbidden in your place..

She cooked, didn't know you would be returning and it's not your fault either for eating food without asking her in the home you both stay as Man and wife..

Talk to her, voice out your anger without being insultive, then reach an agreement with her that anytime she cooks anything with snail;she should put it separately in the freezer and if possible use a separate container to put it so you can easily know that "This particular food was cooked with snail"..

A man and wife comes from different background and so is their tradition and belief..but with communication and understanding;everything would surely go well..

Please don't take this too far, nothing will happen to you either..

    3. Martins you don't get it. She has been cooking with snails for him but won't serve him the snail when dishing the food, even after she was told. Just like someone who said he doesn't eat meat but uses teeth to share it for children. What I frowned at in this, is that the woman is guilty of disobedience.

My Dad never eat snail all through. When he was young before he converted into the Christian fold, he was very sick and almost at the point of death. The native medicine man who treated him used snail, and he was instructed never to eat it, for there will be a consequence if he does.

Even after converting from tradition to Christian worship, Dad still keep to the warning. Mom for one day never cook with snail for him till he passed on.

What am I trying to say here, is that obedience is better than sacrifice. I know of someone who don't eat cook fish unless it's fried. He has never eat it and won't.

Poster, just take it easy and resolve this issue. Forgive her and don't let this break your home.

    8. @Pearl, yes she knew, even us the children. We all eat snail except him. Whenever my sisters want to cook food with snail, they make sure it's just little that will be consumed that day. I never for one day see Dad serving himself food from the pot. Mom was angry with him one day he stayed hungry waiting for her to come back and dish food for him. Everything in marriage is understanding and obedience.

I cant be cooking two different foods; its stressful. To avoid that, why not hire a cook or start cooking your own food.

The only issue I see here is, you oga sir have to work on this stone age mentality. The reason your forefathers put certain laws like this is because of allergic reactions to certain foods in certain families. One or more of your forefathers might have eaten snails and reacted to it badly and they not being educated at that time associated it to some gods. Obviously you do not react to snails. Else you would have reacted to eating the soup without the snail.

In my family, we have this kind of taboo about certain foods but who cares.
Truthfully though, some react when they eat it. You see so it's just an issue of allergic reactions. Calm down.

What’s the consequence of eating snail?
If you’re not physically allergic to snails then maybe you should find out why your ancestors forbade it.
I’m Isoko and I’m aware that where I come from, the men forbid snails but women can eat it.
My mum is very educated even though she grew up in the village and she once told me that everything done is for a reason and it would be best to find out the reason before blindly perpetrating the tradition.

She told me that way back when there used to be inter-communal wars, the men were usually fortified with charms ( odeshi, abi how do they spell it ) that could be nullified with snails and so men weren’t allowed to eat or come in contact with snails to prevent that from happening.
Women weren’t supposed to fight wars so they didn’t need to abstain.

Nowadays, you’d find a young lady saying, my dad forbids snails so I too forbid it...lol.
Even your dad doesn’t get into fisticuffs with acquaintances talkless of wars...talk less of you, the child.
    Abeg, I tire to talk.

Back to you. What should you do? Divorce her na... abi isn’t that what you want to hear?
Doesn’t the fact that you’ve been eating soup cooked with snail since without any adverse effect tell you something?
My people perish for lack of knowledge.

Whatever you do, don’t act whilst still angry though. Calm down and be rational first.

  43. This story is as real as a 3 Naira note. The upside is, I will surely enjoy reading how the "poster" will be dragged horizontally, vertically and diagonally around this thread. This must have been written by a mischievous girl who wants a man to be bashed for a change.

How convenient to forget your phone so you can't call your wife to let her know you missed your flight! You arrived at the airport and discovered that you missed your flight and automatically your appointment. A normal person would immediately take another Uber home to lick his wounds and get consoled by wifey, but nooooooo, you are so jobless that you decided to sit at the airport for 4 good hours to read papers, 4 hours of your life you can never get back. You couldn't read in the Uber and spend the 4 hours in traffic trying to get home? Of course you had to wait at the airport like the night king, you had to give enough time for your imaginary wife to cook snail soup to fit your narrative.

Then when you got home you didn't rush to get your phone to see if your appointment could be salvaged, you didn't call your wife to let her know you missed your flight, you dashed to the kitchen to eat the forbidden soup. It was after you noticed you ate snail... "Bang!" you suddenly realised the use of a mobile phone and you called mummy dearest to tell her you're knocking on Heaven's door because you ate snail! You must be kidding me. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Get outta here man!!!

Sweetie, next time try not to be too obvious. Run the story in your head for a couple of days, cover the loopholes, edit the ridiculousness and produce something more believable. Thanks though, the comment section will surely be lit! Bang!

    3. Tee honey, of course people do. It's not Stella's job to decipher which chronicle is real or fake. She's obligated to post because she will give each the benefit of the doubt. Look at it this way, I could send in a fake chronicle just to stir up emotions then sit back and laugh my head off as I read how Bvs are going at one another because of opposing views.

As for this chronicle, it's way too off and too many ridiculous coincidences that it's no longer believable. How many men would leave their phones knowing they will be away for 3 days and you are supposed to be on business trip? How would you communicate? Let's assume he has nothing incriminating on his phone, most men would still come back for their phones. Ok, let me be generous and assume that he was too far away from home when he realised he forget his phone. How do you explain sitting at the airport for 4 hours? You know how crazy traffic is. The normal thing will be to get an Uber and head home immediately, knowing fully well you would be delayed by traffic. Why waste 4 hours then waste more getting home?

Tee, if you forget your phone at home, as soon as you get home wouldn't that be the first thing you would rush to get? At least a reasonable man would try to call and explain why he missed the appointment and see if it can be rescheduled, no? Then you call your wife to let her know you missed your flight and you are now home. How come this narrative comes in a manner that makes it too convenient to avoid him eating the snails? After all if he didn't forget his phone, he would have called his wife immediately he missed his flight then she would know not to cook that dish. Secondly if he came home immediately, as a reasonable man would, he probably would have met her in the kitchen. How then would the narrative work? Personally, I don't believe this story.

You left the simple meaning, that she has not served him any food prepared with snail to go and be twisting in confusion because you want to blame the woman.
Grammar hard ooooo, simple comprehension seems to be worse.
Somebody said he is traveling, came home and did not bother to inform anybody. Went and carried food from the pot with his eyes closed or maybe because he forbid snail so he does not know what it looks like, ate and then it's another person's fault that he ate what he 'forbid'.

Oga you are just a big troublemaker, if no be that snail, you for still find another thing use quarrel as body dey pepper you for appointment wey you miss. You for see one thing for that house use complain, and if you bin no see, you for still quarrel say she come house late or she no give you wetin you for like chop that night meanwhile you no suppose dey house.
Them dan tell you say nothing, you still dey vibrate.
Pack her load out, she ambush you with snail , wan kill you but God pass am😂😂
Not like you even swallowed it. Mshewwww.

    1. Na you suppose understand the grammar. Oga already knows she cooks with snail reason why he asked her to always brush after eating it. What he doesnt know is that she serves him the food prepared with snail but takes the snail out before serving hence the "confession" from her.

  56. I have a problem with BVs, Most of you didn't read to UNDERSTAND. Just jumped in with comments bashing the guy. My problem isn't the FORBID, that is making BVs get worked up, but the fact He told her while they were dating and she went ahead to dubiously cook with snails.

It's a big deal, that Uncle had to call his mother but the truth is Oga the deed has happened. You ate by mistake, Please forgive her and take your mind out of it, i don't know the consequences. My mom is Isoko and she forbids Snail.

Madam marvo? you are a BV, you have hurt your husband and its not fair, He told you, He forbids it and you still cooked it. Please apologize to him and stop cooking it, relationships require sacrifices. You can eat the snails outside, if you have a craving for it. I wonder what you guys love in that thing, whenever i TRY to eat it i just hate the crunchy sound and the feel in my mouth. Then that slimy thingy on the body. Yuck!

  58. As odd as it may seem...my take is his wife did wrong by still going against his instructions.
He didn't forbade her from eating snails just cause he doesn't eat. No matter how archaic we think he is with his beliefs, the truth is those are his beliefs and he has every right to have them as long as it isnt posing a threat to others.
So if it were something that will leave him dead that's how the poster will turn up dead. People should learn to respect the wishes of others be them married or not, after all this wish wasnt really affecting his wife.

@poster, you are free to forbid any meal you choose to for whatever reason next time be clear about your request too. She may have felt you meant she can cook with the snail but never serve you the meat not understanding that you meant if she wants to eat snail she should prepare it separately. I am pretty sure all these were as a result of miscommunication which she now understands. I doubt if your wife did it in a bid to harm you or not grant your request, you noted she has looked out for you as regards this snail in times past.
Mend issue with your wife, your mum has explained nothing wrong will happen since you knew not.

Its so funny how we Africans or Nigerians look at our beliefs or culture as archaic. We call our traditional system paganism but that of the Asians are not. We tag who we really are mental slaves...smh...what then do we tag those who revel in the white mans culture because christianity and other foreign religions were brought to us by foreigners we take pride in that. We take pride in praising everything foreign and calling it exposed meanwhile the foreigners absconded with our traditional pieces and place them in their museums. Abandoning ones culture that is not necessarily cannibalistic or barbaric ain't woke , it's acculturation.

Next thing some will claim you one is not a true Christian. Thank God , God ain't man. God knows those who worship him in spirit and in truth. Give into ceasar what's center is not only applicable to taxes and tithes.

Poster you will be ok...this should not cause a fight. Explain in clear terms ,communicate and all will be well.

  62. WIfe/Bv, you are very very wrong. You knew from day one that he doesn't eat snail, so why were you still cooking his meals with snails. And after what he just experience you want him to trust you.
Tomorrow now you will be the one crying that your husband has a side chick, why wont he, when the side chick listen and obeys him, but the wife don't listen to him. I am a female, and the truth is I don't eat so many things, no need naming them, and is not because of any believes, that is how I am, I am very selective when it comes to food. So tomorrow now, One man will now come and force me to eat what I don't eat. In all, Wife/Bv, you better go and beg your hubby for forgiveness, because you really offended him.

  63. Oga, this one is not her fault. You were supposed to be on a trip, so your mouth nor follow for the soup. You are the one who took her food, because to her, she cooked for only herself. You were not supposed to be around for days. Hence, when yo came back, you should have give her a heads up even while on your way home that you missed your flight. Then she will quickly tell you that you shouldn't eat the soup in the kitchen o. snails are in it. This isn't her fault at all, and stop calling yOuR mama on couple squabble, eiiishhh!

  64. The only thing i saw was that you called her to come from her shop. You forbid snail. Oga calm do. You hear so. Marriage is a partnership not boss and subordinate . Wat if your wife was MD of a bank na so you go summon her to come and face panel. Haba make it is the commandeering issue that made the wife to be silently rebellious!
