Nigerians should take rape serious and give Busola an Accolade for speaking up. Many of us can't. I was raped when I was 16 and only told my best friend then because I knew she wouldn't judge me. Fast forward to now am married, I was once again raped by someone I called an Uncle. I couldn't bring myself to tell my husband and parents because I will be judged for going to his House. I couldn't take it in my heart as I felt dirty and didn't allow my husband touch me. The day I told him, he was so angry and blamed me. He shut me off for a while.

And understand her long silence and choice to heal properly before coming out. It takes courage to do this and I stand in empathy with her.
