Gov Ganduje Signs Bill Reducing Emir Of Sanusi's Power Into Law And Explains Why...

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on Wednesday assented to the Kano Emirs’ Appointment and Deposition Amendment Bill 2019, after its passage by the State Assembly.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kano State House of Assembly on Wednesday passed a bill establishing four additional emirates and four first class emirs in the state.‎

NAN also reports that the bill, initiated on Monday, passed first reading on Tuesday and scaled through second and third reading on Wednesday.

Ganduje, who spoke immediately after signing the bill into law, said “this is what the people of Kano State want.
This will encourage active and deeper participation of people of Kano State especially in the rural communities in the affairs of the state.
It will also encourage active participation of traditional rulers in the areas of agriculture, education, health and security.”

The Governor also said that there was need to upgrade the traditional rulers based on their historical antecedents so that aspirations and dreams of their forefathers would come true.

Ganduje added that all other processes for the take off of the new emirates would be completed while letters of appointment and dates of Coronation of the new first class emirs would be fixed.

The new Emirates include Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi.

  2. Did you see how speedy the bill was presented, passed and consented? This is a clear indication of political vendetta against Emir Sanusi for his stand against thuggery and criminality of Ganduje's government.

Emir Sanusi reign has just been reduced to ten local government area out of the forty four local government area in Kano State.

The Kano legislative that couldn't investigate Ganduje kickbacks corruption case but suddenly became happy triggered to passed a bill in less than two days. Its okay, posterity will never forget the wrongs of today.

If Ganduje have had his way, he won't have hesitate to strip Sanusi of the throne but what he has done now, is tantamount of striping him some of his powers and control.

    3. Anon8.50 it's not about proof-reading. Teejay is intelligent but his spoken English isn't the best, we all know this.
This is why I told my husband a good primary school education is very crucial for kids. If you get it wrong from that stage. It all comes tumbling down after it.

  6. Karaye is now an emirate.
Did Karaye change or moved to the next level?
Or are there several 'Karayes' in Kano?

  11. Serves us all right. We all do sidon look while the likes of Gadunje steal with concrete proof. Since he was reelected, he has been empowered. He will do worse in the coming weeks. Glad Oyo folks discarded his arrogant in-law.

    1. Make comments based on constitution not sentiment. Don't you know what immunity clause days about trying a sitting governor?
There's nothing any one can do until the end of his tenure.
      Educate yourself.
