Justice Nicholas Oweibo, who presided over the bail hearing on Thursday afternoon, granted the singer bail in the sum of two million naira and two sureties.
The prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, however, argued that it is not the temporary release of the singer that mattered but the final judgment.
He, therefore, urged the court to grant accelerated hearing rather than bail. He added that since the lawyer of the defendant said the defendant is a celebrity, then his actions and inactions have a multiplier effect on youth across Nigeria.
The trial was adjourned to October 22, 23 and 24 for accelerated hearing.

Go and sin no more, Naira Marley.
ReplyDeleteHe was granted bail and could still be convicted. Or was he acquitted?
DeleteWaiting to see how it unfolds.
DeleteGo and be a good boy, Naira Marley
ReplyDeleteOK. ....o but 2m as bail?!, if it's for a man to be sending upkeep money, they tell the man to pay 5k per month for 3children.mtcheeew
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope will now watch whatever he says from now on.
ReplyDeleteThis case is just a flex of power. We know fraud is bad and we will continue to speak against it and urge Marley to use his platform to speak against it but what they are doing to him is flex of power. EFCC is foolish if they don’t see that this media trial has turned to government versus the youth.
ReplyDeleteVery soon now, young people will see going to jail the way young Americans see it. They don’t want to go but if they do, they celebrate going and coming out. That time, all the fear of EFCC will be gone and people will sing about being locked up, it won’t be a shame anymore like it used to be. People will gladly tell you they did the crime and did the time like people say in America.
Americans don’t crucify their own like this. You are supposed to let them undergo a compulsory one year community service that’s not a jail. This is how countries tackle epidemic which yahoo have become in Nigeria. Do you think that poor people with no money care about your stupid image outside Nigeria? You force them to be responsible and change but sending them to 4 months jail is not a solution. They will make connection with more refined criminals inside jail and come out with better understanding of how to be invisible and you can’t prosecute them again this time just anyhow because they’d refer back to crime they did back then and how they got punished for it already! Nigeria justice system sucks.
Lol. I can’t agree with u more.
DeleteVerily! 🖕👌
DeleteYbnl rest, you made no sense.
DeleteYBNL, you are smart and solution focused. A lot of nigerians love propaganda. EFCC will fool them into thinking they are really working meanwhile yahoo boys are being arrested everyday and been released the next day.
DeleteThe emphasis is not really on SOLVING crimes BUT to be SEEN as fighting crimes.
october? our judicial system is lazy
ReplyDeleteHahahhaha, this gist is called NMECHI ONWA MAY🤣,

Hope he has learned his lessons? This is how they will keep adjoining until the whole thing dies a natural death.
ReplyDeleteGo and live a sin free life.
ReplyDeleteEFCC is gradually becoming a joke. Please what happened to Evans???
ReplyDeleteThe judiciary is the joke here not EFCC. Why postpone a case till October so where is the speedy hearing. This is what PMB has been saying, Nigeria system is slow and not the president.
DeleteThat’s good news
ReplyDeleteNow, do your yahoo codedly .
Money answers all things in Nigeria.
