Telling black people to move past the several hundreds of years of mental slavery and torture is like telling a victim of rape to forget their ordeal. The scar would always be there. There is little or nothing we can do about it. Things are beyond damaged. The only thing we should fight for is preventing our generations to come, from experiencing such.

I don't entirely agree with you Stella. Western Imperialism contributed majorly to the problems Africa is facing today.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the world was not meant to be a global place and universalism is a guise for imposing Western-centric ideology on all of the world. Most of what the poster said is true.
Let's use the Adam and Eve analogy...sort of how they ate the apple and nothing remained the same? That's the problem much of Africa is facing today. Taking away much of our belief, language and religion and indoctrinating a false consciousness that all that is good is white and all that is bad is black.
The belief that only development can come from the West/First World...I mean, just look at the classification? First World and Third World Countries? Whose classification?
These first world countries have had centuries of opportunity to evolve through blood, war, corruption, witchcraft and sorcery and all of the negativity that Africa, of which most African countries have been independent for less than a century, is now being antagonized for and about.
I am a firm believer that globalization is a western construct used to oppress the already oppressed and that this world is not one that is meant to be universal. Let me explain. By universal, I mean that we all are not meant to have the same capacity or develop at the same pace because it is not sustainable. Had the westerners remained within their territories and left Africa alone, perhaps, the world would be a much better place. (Well, now that theres nothing left in the world to colonize and plunder, they have shifted base to Space and Mars)
Even when African leaders steal and loot funds, what's the endgame of this theft? Isn't it to travel to these same Western countries to appreciate a "better life"?
The reason for Africa's colossal failure is attempting to tailor a western system that can never make us progress at any stage...that we can never win at. So what happens when a system is bound to make you fail regardless of effort? You resort to vice to gain an advantage e.g fraud, bribery and corruption, looting of funds etc.
When you are living a false life, in the case of Africa, our system of governance and trying to imitate first world development, it is impossible to be authentic. It is impossible to gain ingenuity because you are competing unfavourably with people who have amassed the ability to defeat you at any turn.
Foundational issues..I know you're thinking, why still stuck in the past? Where do we go from here? Nowhere really. The damage has been done and its seemingly irreversible. Every race has its peculiar weakness and I believe the black race was meant to grow through the natural stages of attaining civilisation, not having it brutally imposed on us at infancy stage.
General zod, please try and comment on important posts as often as you can.

DeleteThe belief that Africans are the only ones who scam is erroneous. Where do you think fraud emanated from? Africa? You truly believe that in trying to imitate a 'Western Developed System', that it is only possible to ascribe to the positive aspects while avoiding the negative?
It's a full package. Most of you saying all of these have never studied Western institutions to understand how mechanisms are put in place to maintain the equilibrium; one in which Europe remains on top and Africa remains at the bottom.
For example, the average Nigerian who has 1million naira will rather travel to Dubai to take pictures and come back with a few shopped items rather than spend that money at Obudu Mountain Resort. We have become so ingrained in the West is Best ideology that we fail to see this as a problem.
The same fraudsters use the proceeds to travel to Europe/ Other First World Countries and squander their money on foreign apparells and designs, foreign cars and foreign women. So you see, it's not just the problem of stealing, it's the motive behind it. Either way, the Westerners win in the end.
Our problem has been trying to measure up to Western standards; not shun it and develop a workable system that may lead to progress.
In the end we are Al saying the same thing,the angle you are coming from is what looks different.

Let’s call them foreigners, immigrants and whatever term they use to define us after all what is good for the goose is good for the gander too. Also their colour is not white. Get a white paper and position it near one of them and you see it is far from it. So I wonder how they chose to call themselves white and us black. If you dare call me black I immediately call you yellow and ask if you are colour blind that you can’t differentiate your skin colour from white. No time for nonsense mtchew
