Under normal circumstances, yes. But if not, she has uncles. If no uncles or male relatives, the king of her village. There are always ways around it. That a lady's father doesn't collect brideprice doesn't mean she can't marry.

ReplyDeleteYesterday i was on Regina's dad Facebook page and I went through hos photos, I saw that he has lots of photos he snapped with Regina and her siblings. If he wasn't in her/their lives, then how could he even get photos of them together? Those claiming her dad wants his share, well her dad also said that NED knows him because they lived in the same house while they were still young and that Ned was 7years his senior as at then. He said Ned is 63years old now while Regina is 17. Whatever it is Regina has made her choice and would live with it.

My father is dead and his people were planning for themselves, not me. When time reach, my husband told his people to go straight to the palace. Even me, I'm still shook cos he didn't tell me. My father's people were summoned and shouted at, called all kinds of names while my brideprice was paid and my trad was done in the palace. Something that wasn't done for any of their daughters. That's true. If he didn't pay Regina's mother's brideprice, traditionally he has no right to expect brideprice for Regina. Which is probably why he's shouting about the village where they went to marry her; that's probably her mother's village. They couldn't go to his place cos even his own family members won't collect brideprice for a daughter they don't recognise as their own; if they didn't pay the mother's brideprice, the child isn't recognised as their own. So everything will be done in her mother's village instead cos mother's place is where they'll say that the child is from. Ah so he knew it would pain him if he doesn't collect brideprice yet he had four children with a woman whose brideprice he didn't pay?
