    2. Human being, this same cathedral has been going about soliciting for help, nobody helped. The government promised €50,000, 000 far from what is needed for the dilapidated cathedral to come into shape they even went as far as asking Americans, for where. Now that the cathedral is in the news for a wrong reason, here comes a donor whose name will be published.

    4. At least it will be rebuilt.
It's the government's responsibility to preserve its National treasures. Some NGOs fund restoration and maintenance to preservation of historical structures and artifacts but it's still thegovernment's responsibility.

He should be commended regardless of his reasons for assisting.

When the proverbial king's palace is burnt, a more beautiful one is bound to replace it.

    1. They are not the government. Though this means they can do much more. They are the owners of Gucci. The people who are buying Gucci from all over the world they should donate more too. After all I’m sure Nigerian politicians and elite are a sizeable portion of the consumers. Yet we’re the country with the largest population below the poverty line

    2. I understand your opinion but we shouldn't tell people how to spend their hard earned money. After all, he is not the cause of their suffering.

People donate money towards causes they believe in. Believe it or not, preserving a building that's over 800 years old is just as important as fighting poverty.

That building is a tourist attraction that provides employment to people. It's also a part of the nation's history.

We may not understand the significance of what he has done because we come from a county that has zero maintenance policy and does not value history.

  7. Who cares. I don't know how many news items are needed about this place. What business is it of someone in Kaduna or any place else if Notre Dame is on fire. Mtschhw
