The cleric spoke at the Covenant University’s 20th inaugural lecture delivered by Jonathan Aremu, a professor of International Economic Relations.
Oyedepo, in reaction to Aremu’s concern about Nigeria’s negotiations with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Environmental Protection Agency (EFA) and African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), lamented Nigerian government’s lack of foresight and its inability to identify opportunities.
He said: “It is unfortunate that many of our leaders are intellectually bankrupt.
“When confronted with some of these beautiful initiatives, it is very shameful that they often don’t know the meaning. And if they don’t know the meaning, how will they go about implementation?
“I have often said it that our leaders lack three Cs: capacity, courage and character.
“Where is the capacity when you are bereft of intellect required of a leader? Where is the courage when you don’t have the political will to follow through with policies that will improve governance?
“And where is the character when all they are thinking is how to win election as many times as possible while ignoring developmental initiatives?”
From Daily Post
This man is feeling bad.
ReplyDeleteTithe and offering is no longer coming in buck.
Sorry man of god.
You are really follish. Oyedepo looks like he needs money to you abi. This guy can do without one offering till he dies. He is that comfortable.
Delete12:25 na you mumu pass sheep, you've deceived yourself by thinking they dont want more, money no de do, it intoxicates
DeleteFor the first time I am going to reply a comment.Don, people like you are one of the problems this country is facing. This is a man of God saying the truth and you really have to comment that? God have mercy on you
DeleteMr wailer,Bishop Oyedepo has accomplished more now than he ever did in the last government administration so he is not feeding on tithe and offering. Let's give him Nigeria governance for one year and see how beautiful Nigeria will be.
DeleteGodly mum, this your 1st comment no just follow, can you tell a true man of God?
DeleteHes saying the truth, since when has talking made any impact in this country?
See reasoning - "since when has talking made any impact in this country?" What a ridiculous statement and way of thinking. Yet you folks will be first to run to USA and Canada, Martin Luther King and co did not talk abi?????
DeleteDid Martin luther king and the others talk without action? Thats why i admire Ojukwu and Kanu
DeleteLame excuse, is it not talk that leads to action? Btw, what stops you from also taking action, what?
DeleteAnonymous 14:53
DeleteOjukwu & Kanu families dey abroad during their revolution and they ran away and left your Families to face the consequences
O.k
ReplyDeleteObasanjo is selling Ota farms because his employees have been removed from government payroll and he can't afford to pay them
ReplyDeleteWow....Rightly said, Sir. There's this saying that goes thus-'Nigeria is too rich to be poor and too poor to be rich'....We lack leaders with vision
ReplyDeleteWhen it doesnt favour them, they start raising their voices against the government.
ReplyDeleteWas it all good in Goodlucks tenure? We never heard him speak out cus he was hobnobbing with them.
Don't mind the business man opioro mango head.
DeleteTo me, oyefepo is just a plain business man.
I'm yet to see otherwise
Yaba left take the message and leave the messenger alone. Abi you skipped your haloperidol yesterday ni?
DeleteI love you for this yabaleft
DeleteWell said
Yaba left always talking left.
DeleteYes it was better in Jonathan's time. The economy was better and you know this. Fuel wasn't the price it was now, Dollar was still 180/190. Food items, rice, garri everything was cheaper. Even to stay alive was cheaper. You can imagine there is a drug I buy my mother which she must take to control her BP and stay alive. This drug was always 450 for years I bought it. Do you know this drug is now selling for N2,200
Another I use to buy N1,500. I now buy it N3,800 and our salaries have stayed the same.
Which food item hasn't gone up. Is it common indomie from 30 now to 50.
If this hellish gov't is favouring you it's all good.
But don't open that your left mouth to rebuke people who are speaking for majority of Nigerians.
Omotola doesn't have a problem paying her bills. All her kids are abroad.
Oyedepo doesn't definitely need money. He is a billionaire and can buy anything he wishes even without them "benefitting" from the govt as you claim. They can buy anything that they wish.
But leave them in peace to speak for the majority of masses who are suffering.
I'm sure your type doesn't give beggar even N5 talkmore of caring of the masses suffering.
I have a good job,my husband is doing fine. My kids are going to good schools but I know the way things use to be and above all I know there are many whose conditions have become worse so I will still speak up.
Anon 11:39 I was happy reading through until I got to the point you said your husband. I would have seek for your hands in friendship but that last paragraph betrayed me.
DeleteThanks for the analysis. I love intelligent women and wish for one.
It's only dull heads that praise Jonathan administration. A lot of atrocities were committed, millions of dollars were given to the business men called pastors. Now no money free money and trip to aso rock, they are now making noise on the roof top.
DeleteCriminals in suits.
11:39.
DeleteThe earlier you realiz these ppl dont trully care, the better for you, you're defending a business man, yes he's very comfy but theyre still greedy ones, afterall Dangote still de find money.
Youre mentioning Omotola that is used to being in the limelight & love being the centre of attention, wat'd u think will happen wen it shifts?
The were better in Goodlucks time, no doubt, but below average class were still suffering, did we hear their voices?
Ask yourself what Oledepo has done for the masses, what has he done for people outside his church, has he even gone to a remote village to give them borehole? Or dig their drainage? Nothing tied to gis name, is he not a leader? When he was close to the previous Gov, what inpact did he do? The chibok missing girls did he lift a pin? Only said a few prayer, who that one help? These ppl fight for their pockets, that Leah missing girl nko? Abeg dont get me started
DeleteYaba left your are really seeing left for you to think I care about Oyedepo,I don't go to his church either do I worship pastors. I was even born a Moslem. But where I see someone speaking the truth I will not argue it.
DeletePls can you give me points as to where life is better in Buhari's time compared to Jonathan's time. Tell me how people lives has improved.
And pls don't tell me about people no longer seeing free money in Aso Rock. Tell me how that affects an average mother that can't even carry small money to market and see anything tangible to buy with it.
The masses that are hungry don't care about how Buhari is blocking pastor and actresses money. They just want to feed, send their kids to school and be able to afford medical care.
Give me points has to how Buhari has helped her daily struggles.
How can you hear the masses voice?? Is it not notable people with voices that will bring it to the forefront and people like you will still bullly them and rubbish their voices.
I'M OUT. Peace
All of you saying rubbish about this man of God and the truth are just bunch of retards
DeleteCan you simply ask yourself whether the message is TRUE or FALSE, rather than focusing on WHO said it? Nigerians, why don't some of you have sense like this? Why? Is the country prospering? Heck no. Police shooting left right and centre, severe inflation, and yet you guys are so blinded to the truth.
DeleteAnon 11:39....I'm not supporting either government but people seem to have forgotten that it was Jonathan that increased duel money to 145 on Jan 1st 2012.
DeleteWe dont care if its true or not, is it today we started speaking the truth?? Talk is very cheap in this country, if you like sing like the mocking bird, shit wont change.... its more about action & collective group force! Oyedepo is a very influencial man in this country, all he does is talk when it suits him, speaking from a comfort zone!
Delete*We don't care if it's true or not*
DeleteNo wahala, you MUST remain in this country and experience all the suffering WITHOUT complaining. Eod. What a shit mentality. Mschew. Meanwhile they are the ones that will be first to queue at US embassy. You must stay put where you are.
Lol 😂😂... if only you know where i'm writing from.
DeleteWho gives a shit where you are writing from? Write with sense next time.
DeleteLord help us...
ReplyDeleteLoud it sir
ReplyDeleteI pray FG will not play your tape like Suleiman's case....that's why a lot of spiritual leaders fear to speak up....
ReplyDeleteJonathan was constantly bringing the word of the lord to hes ota shrine as well as large envelope, free parking of hes fleet of private jets & unfortunately Buhari/Osibanjo were NOT. If u still think & believe this man is working for God, only God can save u......
ReplyDeleteAll the people that will come and castigate what he is saying / what Omotola said are still the ones that will be first to beg for giveaway. Una never see something, you just start.
ReplyDeleteGbam and gbamest.
DeleteMan that is richly blessed by God Almighty. Anyway he does not know bad belle people who are annoyed of tithes he collects
The other one that collected 100k+ giveaway, yet is a staunch supporter of this govt. Is that not an anomaly?
ReplyDeleteTalk is cheap, all we need is action. The last time I checked, the pastor too is a leader in his own right. He is one of the richest pastor in Nigeria, what has he done to support the government. He has a school that only the children of the rich attend, right now he has an estate which caters for those who can afford it and not the needy. After all, when the missionaries came, their aim was to raise the weak amongst the strong, is it applicable in today's mission.
ReplyDeleteYou are a great man sir.
ReplyDeleteMy papa saying it as it is, ride on Sir
ReplyDeleteAfricans will swallow any nonsense fed by the whiteman. Japan, China, UAE are rich andand progressive societies without democracy. Good leadership has nothing to do with system of government. Egypt was great until democracy showed up. Democracy is a system of government whereby the decision of 51% supercedes the other 49%. Did democracy advise how to take care of the grievances of the 49%? No. And we expect peace in a crazy, lazy, immature and psychologically-inept country like Nigeria. Dream on!
