  1. Away from election post 🙄

    ADVICE NEEDED 😂!!!

I have this chinese friend Yang

Brief History: Met Yang at a training; nice  guy and all. He was posted to the country and kinda new here so loves my company as I am very intresting 😏 and give him a clearer view of the city and country at large 😂.

So, being a bachelor, Yang has introduced me to almost every restaurant in this city  (doubt we have repeated any restaurant and I absolutely love it). Whenever we go out, he feels responsible for every bill and turns down if I offer. I'm not complaining oh 😂. I actually try to get him local but intresting things he will appreciate.

Now the issue: like I said, we visit restaurants frequently and you trust our Naija waiters now. Once they see me with "oyinbo" they become extra nice (one even hailed me codedly one day 😂). We all know what they want, tips. Yang is a person that can pay 1million for our meal but will collect change to the last  1naira.  Not bad oh. But on the flip side, I belive in tipping.

Now, How do I tip without looking rude or proud or cocky? Do I tip before he collects his change or after cos he always does 😂. When should I tip?

I ever tried squeezing a cripsy note into a waiter's hand but the guy's "thank you's" gave me away and Yang asked why I had to give him/what was I paying for. I tried explaining it was a Tip but trust Chinko now, paying for no service isn't in their dictionary and I think Yang has a weird idea of Nigerians, like we like acting smart and all. I think the whole Yahoo thing has messed up his head so he sees Nigerians as people that love undeserved money . Well, I ended up feeling guilty like I was belittling him or something even tho he ddn't say.

So, what should I do? Cos na me the waiters dey always look as per madam. I even pity them when he makes them look for 200 or 100 but I can't talk. It's his money 🙄. Then imagine after  that i bring out  500 for dash 😂.

    Pls oh, Advise!!!!

Have a great day and please be safe out there!

    4. Nigerians do not tip ohh, why you dey lie.

    5. Tipping is everywhere and not just a Nigerian thing. Surely, he must know that so I think it's just his prejudice against Nigerians. Do you, even if he's against it. It's charitable to tip.

Oh wow, Anon 8:21, never knew.

8:22, not sure where you reside or your crowd. Over here, from normal joint to posh places, people tip. Many atimes, they leave their change with the waiter/server/barman etc

    2. I'm sad. The best friendship i had just ended. It lasted for a litle over a year but it was my best friendship. We are actually both at fault. I did some things and she overreacted and she did some things and I overreacted. I never knew a friendship breakup will hurt this bad.We don't want to rectify the issues because we both have pride and i don't even like strained relationships knowing things can never be the same. Has any one ever gone through same?

      Delete
    3. hi aminu, why dont just be the bigger one and put a call through.

      Delete
    4. Yes. Only that in my case, we were friends for 13 years.

You see, I had to walk out of the friendship last year, cos I felt I was being disrespected and the controlling attitude of my ex-bestfriend was getting over the top.

She knew a lot about me, the mistakes I have made in life, both big and small, so her mouth was beginning to run lose.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when she mocked me with one of such mistakes. At that point, I knew I had to remove her from my corner. And that was after she had supported people who hurt me, and made it seem like I was a terrible person.

She is a good human, I love her, and will ALWAYS do. Always pray for her. However, that trust that I'm safe with her, is gone.

I could never confide in her again, that longing to chat her up is TOTALLY gone. And having been friends for 13 years, it's impossible to become 'hi' 'hi' friends. So it became an all or nothing situation. I chose the later.

We haven't spoken in months, and I'm fine. Being an emotional person, every time I have the need to vent about anything bothering me, I call my mum, or my man. No more confiding in friends.

      THE END.

      Delete
    5. Currently going through same right now. We are both proud and no one wants to reach out to the other. I do still long to receive his call or hear his voice.

Remove processed sugar completely from her diet. Let her source of sugar be from natural juice which digests easily.

  5. I read this was the last post on Facebook made by the late Professor Pius Adesanmi on Facebook, who died in the crashed Ethiopian airline. He said, “If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me –  Psalm 139:9-10”.

So sad he is gone along side other people. Life truly is an incomplete voyage, where most times some dreams are cut short. Such an unfair world so cruel. May their souls find rest.

  56. Good morning Bvs, pls Advice Needed

I went for an interview with the MD of the company last month, it went well but the main issue is that we didnt agree on salary cos I felt it was small. I was told they would get back to me. Its been almost a month now but no feedback.

Now am thinking of accepting the salary as there is no other job and am tired of staying at home. Now I don't know what to do, can I go back to the company to see the MD and say I accept or what do you my fellow bvs think I should do?

    1. They won't call you back. They have given to someone who will accept the small salary.

Since you want to be sure, you can call them

      Delete
    2. I think they have probably filled the position but a follow-up call wouldn't be amiss. It is infact a plus in the Hospitality and Service industry.
Simply state you called to know their decision. Don't mention the salary since you have decided to accept whatever they are paying.
      Goodluck.

  65. Nobody is discouraging any of you from travelling abroad, we gave advice to the BV who was in a dicey situation and in life one should look from both sides of the coins. Many of you are ignorant because you have never left the core of Nigeria so reality is far from your brains.

Abroad is not ROSY, you have to put in work and sacrifice a lot to make it. Not everyone will make it and it is not about staying long here and not making it. How many whites people living here are rich? Many whites are middle class , you can barely save. Why do you think people abroad don't come how more often? Life is hard everywhere. Many of you make that mistake that Abroad is heaven, once you reach here, you are squatting from one person to another, no documents, doing menial jobs and unspicable things just to have where to sleep at night. How many make $5000 a month abroad? But some people make this money in Africa and even more. Even when you are making good money, most of it go to the bills. Yes it is less stressful if you have a job and a house, at least you pay your bills, there is water, electricity and basic things a human can live a stress free life. But life is not always about MONEY! a LOT OF PEOPLE are committing suicide here, especially whites. Life can be routine, you do the same thing over and over, depression and all. It is good in the beginning when you move in, reality has not set in, you are in heaven but when you have to start seeing bills and the person harbouring you is tired, then you know life is hard. Poverty in Africa has made many of you wish any kind of life as long as it is outside Nigeria, and you wonder the number of young people crossing Libya by foot? If you have someone reliable, something tangible you are coming to do, please by all means, travel out but if you are just running away because things are not working for you in Nigeria and poverty is killing you, you are on a long thing. You will have to put more work than you ever imagine in your life to have that stability. You can abuse or try to mock those of us that want to come back that things are not working for us, Lol we are a million times better than you, we have citizenship for life, none of my children will ever pay for university or medical care because all they need is a plane and voila! I can decide to live anywhere and if it does not work , i just need a plane tickets to start over again. My life is MADE and it will take most of you at least 10 years to measure up be it in Nigeria or when you come newly abroad. Lol we know ourselves abroad people and how it is done here especially when you don't have papers. You are welcome o, just make sure the embassy does not reject your stupid shallow self, and if you are lucky to have a visa, make sure you come to suffer and work really hard for the next 5 years to stabilise. Dreamers...
Those of you that are coming with a much more elaborate plans, you are a professional and got skills, please make that step, you will do great here and life will be better than those who have nothing to offer the white man but want to hammer.

    1. You are not God...I will advise anybody that have the opportunity to come here...Even a cleaner can still train a sibling to be a graduate in Nigeria without doing fraud.. Lord I thank you for your mercy over my life.

    2. Again, poverty mentality. I never said i was God. Your religious sentiment is what keeps Nigerians ignorant and poor. I am informing them of what to expect, we can';t all be like you who form blind and ignore the realities on ground. Not everyone wants to be a cleaner, get that fact! You can send all your family member abroad, no one gives a fuck but don't stop me from saying it like it is.
