According to the Governor, the electoral body was planning something special, to present him with his certificate.
“Maybe INEC wants to organise a special programme for me to hand over the certificate to me but clearly, I’ve won and it was a peaceful election,” he said.
But, reacting, INEC’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye on Channels Tv Sunrise Daily on Monday insisted that the commission has not rescinded its order and would not present the certificate to the Imo State Governor.
He stressed that no candidate including Governor Okorocha will be given certificate of return after influencing REC in his states “under duress”.
Asked whether the commission has reversed its decision on Okorocha’s certificate of return, Okoye said: “Yes, We’ve made it clear on why we didn’t present any certificate of return to him (Okorocha).
“If you look at our website, we said that the declaration and return were made under duress and that we are not going to give any certificate to any person or any individual that procured a return under duress.”

Inec it's an election. The people voted. The man eon. Give him his paper. There's no law allowing this rubbish. I don't like the man but we need to follow due process in this country
ReplyDeleteWill you shut up osiso
DeleteIncase you hv been li ing in a cave and have no clue of whats been happening, the returning officer said he was making the declaration that Rochas won "under duress".
DeleteThat is not acceptable.
I've followed the story .the point is rochas won. And inec has not countered that. Why the officer felt the need to hold back annoucannoun is a duffdiffe issue. They have now had time to check and inec has never said rochas didn't win
Delete@Saphire, whether the returning officer made the announcement under duress or not, is not enough reason to withold his certificate of return. In this case, Rochas is innocent until proven guilty, they should try him in court and let him defend himself...
DeleteAnonymous 16:04, I know it's you Okorocha's sister. " Commissioner of happiness " how market? Oya make una family go Rest so IMO state people will get the happiness they deserve.
DeleteYou csnt even address the correct anon
DeleteBia Ewu saying that INEC should give Okorocha certificate.
DeleteLet me ask you, do you live in Imo State? Did you observed the election there to know that Rocha's won?
Did you vote within that particular Senatorial zone? Not sure you are from Imo State. If you are then you must be one one Rochas myopic followers with low intelligence and lack political knowledge. Or are you one of those unenlightened APC members?
If you did not vote and you are not from Imo State. Please shut up that thing you call a mouth and stop typing nonsense.
One I am an Imolite and I was among those who observed the election within that Senatorial Zone.
Rochas never won the election.
His paid thugs, over a fifty of them did not all the Rec officer to collect out the other wards when they saw that Rochas was loosing.
They threatened the Rec officer and he was taken away at gunpoint and Rochas insisted he declared him winner.
So many where afraid to speak up but since information had be passed by the Rec officer on time about the situation at hand.
INEC has the right to with hold the certificate.
Now it is either they call out the original and fully results or another election will be held in that Senatorial Zone.
He cannot go to court and bribe a Judge on this at all.
Besides he has been suspended by APC.
So why waste his time claiming what he did not win.
He should get ready, for more woes we befall him soon. After all the atrocities he committed in Imo State.

ReplyDeleteThe canary is about to sing.
ReplyDeleteInec he said each APC governor paid 1 billion each. Is it true.
Please give him his certificate oo before he talk more
Rochas is still talking more things.
DeleteHe said Anambra state voters gave PDP 1.5m votes.. INEC reduced it to 500k.
Wonder wonder wonder
Hope that man that read the result is alive and well... I must however commend the man for revealing he was under duress while calling the results..
ReplyDeleteAt this point I have to support Rochas because what INEC is doing to him is against the law. APC headed by Oshomole are known for WITCH HUNTING. They should give him his certificate and head to court. Last time I checked INEC has not turn to Judiciary.#onthesideoffairness# #Bloodisthickerthanwater# @Blessed Princess
ReplyDeleteHow is it against the law please? An officer was held against his will and forced to make a winning declaration in favour of Rochas and you feel it is unfair? How please? Did the INEC officer lie? Was he not held against his will? Was the result true? Please let us always judge rightly. Rochas was way out of line with that action and the punishment is justified.
DeleteViola inec has never said the results were false. Just that their ifficer was forced to announce .imagine you won and the officer refused to announce, yes it's possible the supporters or rochas got upset and harrassed him. But the fact is they won

DeleteRochas never garnered enough vote to win the Senatorial Seat. He only kidnapped the Returning Officer and at Gunpoint, he announced the result. Every other INEC original documentation has different figures. Its important such scenario doesn't play out in subsequent election. Nkmama
ReplyDeleteThey should declare the other person that have the highest number votes.. okoroocha isn’t the only person that came out for that position.. i think the pdp guys won but REC man declared Rochas winner under duress.
ReplyDeleteSmell a fish oh! So, who won Na?? If he was forced under duress to read the wrong result, now he's not under duress he should read the correct result Na, no be so?? It's been over 3 weeks oh!!
ReplyDeleteNa only inec know. Tales by moonlight.
Mr jailer.....🎵🎶🎶🎤 with all Okorocha' s atrocities, once out of office na jail straight after trial but again this is Nigeria
