The Super Eagles have been rewarded with $60,000 by Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa for the wins against the Pirates of Seychelles and Pharaohs of Egypt.

The players will share $50,000, while head coach of the side, Gernot Rohr will pocket the remaining $10,000 with his assistants.

Rohr’s charges defeated Seychelles 3-1 in their last Group E match of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last Friday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Odion Ighalo who finished as top scorer in the qualifiers with seven goals, Henry Onyekuru and Moses Simon got the goals in the game.

The three-time African champions recorded a slim 1-0 victory against Egypt in friendly game at the same venue on Tuesday.

FC Midtylland of Denmark forward Paul Onuachu scored the winning goal about eight seconds into the game.

It was Onuachu’s first goal in his first start for the Super Eagles.

    1. I'm seriously pained with this news, my mum retired since April 2016, no gratuity, no monthly payment and it's not been easy for us. Her friend who retired since 2014 has taken to begging for a living because all her children are struggling financially. My sister told me this morning that they are expecting a payment on some arrears but Okowa said there is no money so Zenith Bank offered to make the payment as a loan to the government but will deduct the from the pensioner's payment! But he has cash to throw around for footballers that are already well paymaid. It won't be well with you Okowa, all the pain you are making people experience, you will receive a double portion of it.

  11. I have a big problem with this kind of spending. How do you get such monies from the budget? Are they under miscellaneous? You don't use govt money to do philanthropy or whatever this is. If he used his personal money thats a different matter (however any Governor spending that kind of personal money needs to be probed)
