Eating Disorder- Binge Eating Disorder (BED)


Binge eating disorder occurs when an individual repeatedly eats unusually large amounts of food in a short period of time. An episode of BED is characterized by the following:

Eating, in a discrete period of time (e.g., within any 2-hour period), an amount of food that is definitely larger than what most people would eat in a similar period of time under similar circumstances.

A sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (e.g., a feeling that one cannot stop eating or control what or how much one is eating).
BED episodes are associated with the following behaviours:
Eating much more rapidly than normal,
eating until feeling uncomfortably full,
eating large amounts of food when not feeling physically hungry, eating alone because of embarrassment of how much one is eating, feeling disgusted with oneself, depressed, or very guilty afterward, marked distress regarding binge eating is present.

BED occurs, on average, at least once a week for 3 months.BED is not associated with the recurrent use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors (e.g., purging).
Causes of BED is unknown however research suggests that biological, psychological and sociocultural factor might be responsible for it.

The consequences of binge eating disorder involve many physical, social, and emotional difficulties. Some of these complications are: Cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, insomnia or sleep apnea, hypertension, gallbladder disease, muscle and/or joint pain, gastrointestinal difficulties, depression and/or anxiety.
Professional support and treatment from health professionals specialising in the treatment of binge eating disorders, including psychiatrists, nutritionists, and psychologists, can be the most effective way to address binge eating disorder.

Shuo!!!...This thing is even more serious than one thinks oh.....Does that mean wetting the bed could also be a mental health issue?

BV HEART BROKEN

Hello madam Stelz,My heart is broken as death has struck my family,have lost my older sis(Adanne m)to the cold hands of death after a child delivery last week Thursday.It was a successful delivery but devil took her baby,later that day my sis gave up too.

I'm trying to get out of the shock and kept asking God why he should let this happen,but can't question him.

Pls i seek for bv's to pray for my family bc it has not been easy loosing such a beautiful soul in our family.

I also lost my elder sister Six months after my mum passed and a year after my big Bro...........
I have been through the worst heart break and ache you can think of,i have cried tears that seemed as if it would never stop..hurt so badly nothing mattered,hurt so badly i questioned God....Oh the tears i cried!!!
Sometimes i appear cold becos that moment in time turned me into a cold person and sometimes i manifest a heartless attitude to things that wanna hurt me...

Today i remember them with love and smile................
Time is a good healer and you will smile again....

SHOULD A PARENT KNOW HOW MUCH A CHILD EARNS


This is one thing that I usually think of in my "bored moment" (we all have that moment when we think of random unnecessary things). Two stories

Story A: this girl is the perfect child, Apple of the parents eye, she does her parents bidding and she can do no wrong in her parents eye. Now she was lucky after school (she schooled abroad) to get a job; a well paying one at that with all the benefits that came with it. Now,being the perfect child, she told her parents how much she earns, her commission and her mum helps her decide how to spend the money and it has continued like that.....



STORY B: here comes her little sister. This one is nowhere close to being the perfect child and isn't bothered about it sef. She does her own and nobody disturbs her. She also got a good job but didn't tell her parents how much she earns. She collects salary, spends it on her own without anyone knowing. One time they demanded to know how much she was earning and she told them half of the amount she was earning and the mother also wanted to tell her how
to spend the money.

You know the saying "kasala go burst". Anyways, that's what happened that day. Her mother had stumbled upon something and she knew the real amount the daughter was being paid.

Confronted the daughter and war started. The mother even started crying at a point that her daughter lied to her, doesn't trust her bla bla bla.

They asked the daughter and she said she didn't like the way her mother was telling them how to spend their salary. They're grown up girls and since they work, they should spend the money as they wish and the mother should make do with what they gave to her and not try to control them.

I really don't know what happened after as yours truly was called to go and get something after eavesdropping on the conversation

But I still ask, was daughter A a good child for telling her mom how much she earns or is daughter B right for not telling and when they demanded to know, was she right in slashing it into half?




*What is their business with how much their kids earn?they have no right to know and if the girls wanna tell them fine but its not by force nau.....na wah!!!
