The statement comes a day after Smollett was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report about a racist and homophobic attack he said happened to him last month in Chicago. He faces up to three years in prison.
Prosecutors say Smollett paid two men to help him stage a fake attack, which received widespread media attention and prompted an outpouring of support from politicians, advocacy groups and celebrities, including several of his “Empire” colleagues.

Please, stop it. It's his hatred for Trump that caused him to do this to himself. It would have been a different case if he had no contact with either of the fake attackers; we could have said they might be setting him up. But because his cup of hatred is full and disgrace from heaven was already gunning for him, he then went and paid them with a personal cheque. Not even in cash, that he can deny. This is the kind of mess that happens when actors refuse to stay in their lane, buy into their own hype, think they're more important than they really are, and start writing their own scripts.
