Output shrank 0.2 per cent in the three months through December, following a 0.1 per cent decline in the previous quarter, statistics agency Istat said Thursday in a preliminary report.
The year-end shrinkage was greater than expected, and will put further pressure on the coalition government, which already appears to be fraying.
The contraction was anticipated, particularly after Premier Giuseppe Conte said Wednesday that he expected the fourth-quarter GDP drop. Separate figures showed the euro-zone economy grew 0.2 per cent at the end of 2018, matching the pace of the previous quarter, but slower than the first half.

The other day they said they need population.
ReplyDeleteThey couldn't pay me enough to live there.
DeleteApart from the major cultural centers Italy does not look prosperous to me. It actually has an underdeveloped or developing country vibe about it. I never got why any immigrant would look to settle there. But this only my opinion an opinion is not fact.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely correct!
DeleteItaly and Italians are their problems. A country so promising but racism has eaten them deep dead to their bones. And the lack of support for education too is contributing, that is why though the still have tourism/fashion going strong for them, they do not have the technicality know-how to turn those into something that will help the country. They are so corrupt, they are following Nigeria on the ladder of one of the most corrupt countries of the world.
DeleteBut aside that it is a peaceful country and save but it is not enough if there is no work for the citizenry at large. And Salvini is not helping matters.
#doing themselves on their own, is a pirri.
Where is Adeosun? She'll be in the best position to help
ReplyDeleteLolzzz... This shade came too early today.
DeleteWell, it is not really a shade, drungo. It is a fact. When other countries like Venezuela who were doing better than us couldn’t withstand the recession caused by oil market fall, we successfully got ours back. There was an existing team that did that and Kemi Adeosun should get credit for that. You should get credit for your English grammar first before you call it shade on others.
Deletethe God that pull Nigeria out of recession wl Also take charge...

DeleteNigeria is out of recession only on paper, not in reality, the prices of somethings are still rising. God help us
