The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that during the trial-within-trial held on Oct. 26, 2018, Evans claimed that his alleged confessional statement to the police was not obtained voluntarily.
Giving a ruling admitting Evans’ June 11, 2017 confessional statement into evidence, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, said that based on Evans’ evidence videotaped confession played in court on Oct. 26, 2018, there was no proof that Evans was tortured to provide details of his alleged misdeeds as he claimed.
The Judge said, “In the video that was played in open court, the first defendant was cautioned and he signed a word of caution, when he was asked his profession he said he was a businessman, he said so with a smile.
“In the video the first defendant asked the investigating police officer to write his statement on his behalf, the first defendant sat on a sofa and after the recording of the statement, the first defendant signed. In the video, the court cannot see any coercion directed at the first defendant.
Justice Oshodi said the alleged kidnap kingpin did not provide any evidence to court to back the allegations of extra- judicial killings he made against the police. The allegation that the police murdered some people is a criminal allegation that he did not prove and there is no blood seen in the video.
Justice Oshodi adjourned the case until Feb. 22 for continuation of the evidence of Haruna and trial.

Can this man just be jailed already and the keys thrown away in the lagoon🙄
ReplyDeleteNa wa ooo, Are they still fumbling with this man's case? They should just lock up the morafunka. Only in niaja you see an accused taking the police to court when hes a blood sucker with enough evidence.
ReplyDeleteThey should release this guy already. This guy is just a clean business guy that only kidnaps the rich, very smart dude. 100% better than all these hungry Yahoo plus guys that kills people like chicken. In Evans case no murder was recorded rather he takes care of his victims. Nobody should come after me o cuz I didn't eat the money with Evans
ReplyDelete😳. This type of opinion 🤦🏾♀️
DeleteSo rich people are not human being too right? Don't you want to be rich too? So its ok for Evans to kidnap you too right? Oga o.
DeleteLmao
Delete@ Cynthia iyede,I prefer Evans kidnaps me and demand for ransom than been butchered by yahoo plus guys. I still maintain they release him,no murder was recorded for him
DeleteI guess you closed your eyes to the part where he killed the orderly to one of his victims and also killed someone's father after collecting ransom. By their contributions you know them. Smh
DeleteWell anon 10:51, honestly I can't remember reading anything like that.
DeleteAnno 11: 48, you should go back and read from the beginning of Evans story; so that you will see that he actually killed.
DeleteHe kill somebody o, he no kill somebody o, nobody deserved to be held against his/her will, nobody deserved to be extorted. You need to change this your mentality anon. so because he did not kill somebody now, we should give him an applause and let him continue to extort people out of their hard earned money?
DeleteThis monster should be killed already
ReplyDeleteHis case is still on???They should lock him up already.
