Young’s song, ‘Oju Ti Ti Won’, was released in 2008. He had threatened to file an intellectual copyright suit against Savage.
While the outcome of his threat is yet to be known, it was discovered on Wednesday that the video for ‘One’ is no longer available on the YouTube page of Savage.
In place of the video is a message which reads: “Tiwa Savage One is no longer available due to a copyright claim by a third party.”
Young confirmed that he filed the complaint against the singer.
He said: “When I heard her song last year, my lawyers reached out to her lawyers but they ignored us. They thought it was just one small boy talking.
“Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for Tiwa Savage and I respect her craft as well, but you see, two brothers can have a case in court and still have a good relationship with each other.
“Tiwa and every other singer out there is a role model, so we must not continue to operate in an industry that has no structure. I am just trying to do the right thing and trying to prove that copyright issues must be taken seriously especially in the Nigerian entertainment industry.”
Following the release of ‘One’, Savage had publicly thanked Wale Turner for “blessing” her with the song.

ReplyDeleteIf she actually did copied his lyrics, you tube did well. Enough of all these copyright .

ReplyDeleteIt's good we start taking intellectual property serious in this country. Savage probably looked down on Danny so the lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteDanny young wetin you gain out of this?
ReplyDeleteWhat sort of silly question is this? Bcos ur in Nigeria? You don't know what she did is a crime? You can't still sm1's work as yours.
DeleteDid you just asked "wetin him again"? If what he said is true, its called stealing and its a crime
DeleteAbeg ignore that thing whining.
DeleteThose are the ones who don't mind buying pirated copies for songs and movies for 100 naira.
Being able to read that grammar is a miracle.
DeleteListened to both songs,Aunty Tiwa no try sha.Same thing Tecno did with Jogodo.
ReplyDeleteTekno’s own has the blessings of the original singers.
DeleteNigerian artists and stealing people's lyrics are 5&6. Same thing techno did, wonder how that one went.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Too bad of them
DeleteSo this is the real reason she has been laying low on social media.
ReplyDeleteOh Tiwa! It's not just about pulling down on YouTube
ReplyDeleteShe no fit dream of lyrics?
ReplyDeleteWhen she is busy dreaming of wizkid🤐
DeleteBut the saying 'odun odun la n r'orogbo' is a popular saying in Yoruba land. More like a prayer line....What do I know?
ReplyDeleteTiwa Savage is probably the most overrated artist in Africa right now
ReplyDeleteCannot sing live to save her life
Cannot dance for 5 minutes straight on stage without panting and going off key
Cannot even perform uniform choreography in music videos
Her only saving grace was that she was a good songwriter. Now it's been proven that she steals lyrics. She should commot from dia and let the talented ones shine!
Na you come sabi am. over sabi and jealousy kee you there
DeleteYou are right my dear. Her stage presence is zero but she has good songs and hype. Vocals just there.
DeleteOh shut that gutter u call mouth!
DeleteHow dare u vomit such nonsense? You're either Yemi Alade or related to her. Tiwa is way ahead of u, so just deal with it. Ozuo!
Why steal someone's lyrics??
ReplyDeleteToo bad Tiwa!!
Did you guys read where she thanked wale turner? If it was copied, them it’ll be on the person who gave her the sing to sing. Maybe he stole it and Tiwa released video without knowing. If it’s true, at least now she knows.
DeleteEyaaah. Tiwa please don't copy next time.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to believe Tiwa would knowingly steal anybody's lyrics..she's too classy and enlightened for that!
ReplyDeleteMost of what she said in d song are general Yoruba prayers.
Waiting for d update madam Stella.
