A statement signed by Abdullahi Bego, Director General for Media and Media Affairs to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, indicated that, the payment also covers a five-year pension to the next of kin of the affected deceased civil servants.
“His Excellency, the governor has also directed that the approved sum be paid to the beneficiaries or their next of kin in two installments – at the end of January 2019 and at the end of February 2019.
“The public may recall that in November 2018, the governor had approved N252,993,577.58 as gratuity payment to 141 other retired and some deceased civil servants who retired or died between January and March 2018,” Bego noted.
According to the DG, the latest payment approval granted by the governor coherent to a pattern that is regular and consistent with his administration where workers’ welfare is always treated as a priority.
