Movie 'King Of Boys' Reportedly Rakes In Two Hundred Million Naira At The Box Office

Movie maker Kemi Adetiba Announced on her Instagram handle yesterday that King of Boys had hit N200million mark at the Box Office...............WOW!!!

The crime movie, which features Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi and Reminisce, tells the story of Alhaja Eniola Salami, a businesswoman and philanthropist with a checkered past and a promising political future.

As her political ambitions see her outgrowing the underworld connections responsible for her considerable wealth, she’s drawn into a power struggle that threatens everything she holds dear.

The crew also released ‘Original Gangster’ as the soundtrack for the movie.

The track features Adekunle Gold, Reminisce and Sess, a musical producer.

    1. Please do.

@Stella , Kemi really did well from the cast, to the plot and mini plots and in fact her prips really interacts well with everything . She allowed each actor shine and I am really impressed .

Few Downer moments includes where the tempo dropped in few scenes e.g. where the Nfcc guy went to confront his superior officer/when he helped Eniola Salami escaped, when Eniola was reminiscing after she was caught, also at one point, the camera was made to suggest that someone was lurking in the shadows to strike the Nfcc guy when he entered his car and about to drive off.

I also expected more gore/blood at the second scene plus the lighting wasn't enough to actually see the blood spill when Eniola hammered the traitors' head to death!

This is like watching a remake of Godfather but with a breath of fresh air because it truly represents our present Nigeria .

Kemi really raised the bar on this one.

Almost 3 hours of spell binding movie, my husband would not even watch Nigerian movie in the house talk much more of going to the cinema to watch one but when the movie ended he gave it a thumbs up!
    Kemi Adetiba is a legend.
    Sola Shobowale an amazing act
    Reminice was refreshing to watch
Toni Tones???? I'm yet to see a toll she doesn't interpret absolutely well.
This movie doesn't get the hype it deserves, cos it's not a mo abudu production

    1. True.. My husband watches most movies in the cinema halfway and tunes off, not to talk of naija movie; but with This, he paid rapt attention despite having to go early to work the next morning. The movie deserves the hype.

    2. I swear Toni Tones is an actor every one should watch out for. She's good

    3. Abeg extra .motivation to watch would be if Aunty mi Sola did her trademark "run". Wey she go gather her cloth for hand and run fast. MBA. It can't be called run see. Scurry is the word. LMAO. Scurry..like a pretty, yellow beetle. Lol

    4. Anon 22:24,you are so funny! It must have months I followed my kids to the cinema(they are adults o),but surprisingly,we are going to watch this Adetiba's film this Sunday. I cannot wait o. I am not surprised that this lady's talent is out of this world;she added the midas touch to the Wedding Party 1,the only Nigerian film I liked.I did not like Fifty because they took materials from Tyler Perry's works and from Soul Food.Hopefully,we will enjoy this new film.

I must commend Kemi Adetiba, they movie was the bomb and a must see, Nigeria film industry has improved greatly, just a few things that were missed like using the current governor of Lagos picture whereas the governor in the movie is a different person and hotel bedding showing in the house of Sola Sobowale, regardless of all, it is a must see. You won't regret watching .

    3. Yeah. Those continuity issues are a beesh. Like in The wedding party. But from where we are coming from, easily forgivable. Only way is up

  24. So here is the math; for it to make 200m it means 133,333k tickets were sold that is if it was sold at 1500. Now one cinema seats about 56(according to sold out pic I saw). It means this movie has had 2380 fully sold out cinema halls since it was released.
I’m not saying it’s a lie, I just like numbers.
    Congrats to the producer

    3. Anon 22:32, what is peppering you? Simple math that you could have responded to turning to insult??? See data doesn’t lie, but I know Nigerians hate data. We will rather use sentiments and emotions rather than facts and data.
Chikito bought hers at 2k, is she also lying, I used 1500 because that’s price of ticket(new movie/weekends) some even sell 1k for midweek tickets. And the 3k you mentioned is probably first few days of release. But even if it’s the permanent price for this particular movie, you could say that and moved on. Please take you anger and vent on those that vexed you

The only interesting character was Toni Tones.

  34. on our trip to Nigeria last month, we really enjoyed this movie, with begi begi hubby accepted to watch king of boys, infact the way he talks bout the movie, he was impressed, I really enjoyed the movie, so impressed with the story line n how realistic the ending was, it tells of what truly happens in Nigeria, there were so many hero’s in the movie that did really well apart from the lead actress, I must say I was impressed with the younger sola, the rapper reminisce and the guy who worked with the crime commission not to discredit the lead actress, no one could have done it better. If we were still in Nigeria I would watch again, it deserves all the credit. Well structured movie. I have been following Kemi Adetiba show on YouTube about king women and I really loved all the episodes especially the woman called Remi and the lady who sold moimoi internationally and Michelle obama tasted her food. Kemi is really hardworking n wholeheartedly deserves the best. The movie was a good one and it sets the bar high for Nollywood

    1. Then you'll pass on great things. Take it from a Thespian, if you have seen Godfather Series, then you'll enjoy this even better because it's the story of Nigerians and what happens here.

  41. The hype and reviews for this movies be giving me second thoughts. I don't watch naija movies at the cinema, but it's like this one would break it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The movie is too worth the hype. 200m is too small sef. I’ve seen it before and I can’t wait to go see it agin. For me, it’s the best Nigerian movie of the decade. The movie is badddd!

    ReplyDelete
  43. The BV that compared the movie to Godfathe, you sure say na Godfather you watch? Sola Sobowale made the movie interesting by the way but it was over-hyped. So many loopholes, like serious ones. Toni Tones was GREAT in the movie and if she doesn't win best supporting actress at the AMVCA then something is wrong. All in all, over-hyped sha and the movie was more than 3hours. it was 210mins (3hrs 30mins) with zero ad o. I stood up to pee 2ce as I cannot damage my bladder for one movie. Paid 600 hundred naira to see it at filmhouse.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I did compare it to Godfather especially, Godfather 2. Guess your standing up to pee made you miss out some parts. I didn't over hype it and Kemi really tried. If you read my write-up, you'll see where I pointed out some downer moments where the tempo dropped and other Bv did too.🙏
