The Pain.........
I had been married for a little over 8months and was anxiously waiting for the day I will be pregnant, finally the day came to the glory of God.
I kept on waiting for all the morning sickness everyone talked about to start happening to me but it never came. The pregnancy was such a smooth and stress-free one. I glowed!
8days to my EDD(at about 5am)my membrane ruptured, after a very serious tumble in the hay the previous night *hehehehehhee*
I felt the urge to wee and got up from the bed, while at it, the "wee" wouldn't stop flowing , I was like ah"which kind urine is this that won't stop coming out naa" ..it took a while for me to realize that my water had broken.
Chimuoooo
I quickly got up from the Water Cistern and dashed into the bedroom, wore a pad and dressed up, woke hubby up and just muttered "Hospital, Hospital " (tension and fear had set in) he quickly dressed up and grabbed my Hospital essentials and off we went.
Immediately we got to the Hospital, I didn't even wait for hubby to park the car well, I jumped down from the car, grabbed my bag and headed to the Labour Room(no contractions yet).
I met the Dr on duty and he asked me a few questions (when water broke etc) and then asked me to change into the hospital gown and lie down. I did and after a while, I started feeling small small pains similar to menstrual cramps.Meanwhile I met another lady that was writhing in pain when I came in and I'm like, "hey God, is this what I will have to pass through "
I lay on the bed next to hers and kept on telling her to hang in there and be strong. After a while, my own started building up and the Dr came and checked me and told me I was doing well and left.
My people, from there onwards,I knew what pain was..the contractions hit me back to back and at a point, I had to hold onto the bed railings to keep from falling off the bed. I felt the urge to wee and beckoned on the Midwife, she brought one container and the wee refused to flow oh, I was confused. She now said, "I know what to do"...and then brought one pipe, inserted into my V and urine nearly filled up the container oh. Lol
I was a first timer so they all felt It was going to take a longer time before baby comes out, and as such, they didn't really pay much attention to me. They concentrated more on the other lady(who had given birth at this time, but had a retained placenta)
As the contractions were hitting me back to back, I started feeling the urge to push and had to beckon on them to come oh, A midwife quickly came and checked me and said I should push whenever she tells me to. I pushed on the first prompting and she said "Nne,I didn't feel this your push oh" I'm like "God, "this thing I used my whole strength to push, this woman is saying she didn't feel it,I'm finished today be that "
Then came another contraction and God gave me strength I didn't know I could muster and with that, I pushed as though my life depended on it and out came the baby at about 8am.I couldn't believe I had actually pushed the baby out, I was in awe!
All these happened within a space of 3hours..God really came through for me. But the midwife didn't give me an episiotomy, I don't know why she didn't, the baby gave me his own customised episiotomy that took a long time to suture and boy!did I see stars? The pain was something else and the very mean Doctor didn't even give me anything to numb the area, he just went about his business like he was sewing a cloth. I writhed in pain and all he could say was "Madam, stay still,I'm just helping you oh, you had a big tear "

I just somehow managed to remove my mind from there and kept on looking at my baby where he was being cleaned up and bore every needle prick till he was done.
The lady with the retained placenta later had it removed with the aid of some instruments and they had to transfuse her cos she lost a great deal of blood. We are very good friends till today.
I'm on a second missionary journey and I pray for a fast labour and delivery as well, without that tear sha,Lol.I pray God will do it for me and every other expectant mother in Jesus Name Amen.
*Congrats oh,the big tear doesnt stop anyone from what i have read here....LOL
Congrats ma'am. Safe delivery in advance.
ReplyDeleteI have gone on this journey 3 times no baby to show. The last one almost took my life just last month. It is well. Congrats to those that are lucky.
DeleteCongratulations ma'am.
ReplyDeleteWhy do some of these hospitals carryout this archaic practise of not numbing the site before stitching. That is soo wrong, as in all shades of wrong. The pains of labour is enough abeg. Women say no to this bad practise abeg.
ReplyDeleteNNE, thank God for you.
Dear future mothers on the blog, please visit a good hospital and ask to see the doctor. Have a one on one conversation about thr practices in their hospital before you make a decision.
DeleteDon't let anyone suture your epidural without anesthetic, we have enough pain from labour and delivery, epidural shouldn't be added to it.
We are not animals
I dont understabd what you mean by "epidural shouldnt be added to it" and "suture your epidural". Please be informed that Epidural is an injection administered to the spine to numb pain from the waist below. Epidural should therefore be administered to mothers before sewing up a vagina tear. Please dear, be informed before commenting next time.
DeleteCongratulations poster, start applying olive oil down there (not inside o) to avoid tear. All the best
DeleteI’m sure you understand from the conversation that she means episiotomy...
DeleteThey didn't inject u in your vj b4 suturing? That's so bad of them. I think I took up to 4 injections before the mid wife finished and I was still feeling pains sef.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your baby. Don't worry, this time around u will have it better.
You are so lucky. Thank God for you.
ReplyDeleteCongrats madam, and safe delivery on your second
ReplyDeleteMay God be with you on your journey, had my son through cs 9months ago but men the experience was terrible.i felt every pain, after then i had a big boil(cant remember the medical term)above where i was cut.i was in pain for 3months,the cut was very big and deep, the treatments, injections, tears,i couldnt even hold my baby for days.tank God for hubby, mum and motherinlaw, its all over now.getting pregnant again scares me to death.
ReplyDeleteWow!
DeleteYou are a strong woman
Some doctors though. Bikini cuts ate used for CS (3-4 inches cut below your pantline) so no one would even know you had CS if you wear a bikini. Did you make sure the stitches were clean? If yes, then they must have used an archaic suture needle which is bigger in size and takes longer to heal. Pele. Please check the hospital you use for your next one.
DeleteCongrats...safe delivery
ReplyDeleteCongratulations darling. Babies are precious gifts from God and I rejoice with you. This one you are carrying shall even be easier than the first, Grace is released unto you. I also use you as a point of contact to myself and other women trusting God, now is our time. No more delays in Jesus name. Our testimonies will be expedited. Our babies come now in Jesus name. This time next year, we will be celebrating with our babies in our arms. God will exceed our expectations. We will rejoice. Congratulations once again dear sister.
ReplyDeleteAmen for me and my fellow sisters in the same shoe,God knows them all.
DeleteAmen sister.
DeleteI read a recent journal that doctors in the US have stopped giving episiotomy, saying a natural tear by baby is better and easier to heal than a deliberate tear from the midwife or ob/gyn. Doctors in the abroad, how true is this?
DeleteCyclone you are right. I was allowed to tear naturally and I healed in less than 1week
DeleteThanks everyone, May God bless the womb of all those believing him for the fruit of the womb and grant safe delivery to those pregnant. I say a big amen to your prayers. Thanks Stella for posting.
ReplyDeletePls I need to ask mothers I gave birth thru cs ND was given epidural and am still felling pains Aft 6mnths I beg is dis how it's is will d pain go away d pain is around my waist ND back at times if I sit down for too long getting up is an issue o
ReplyDeleteYour were given spinal anaesthesia for the C/S. 6 months is such a long time for you to still be having pains there. Where did you do the C/S? Please visit the doctor again and make the complaint. You can still have pains there if the spinal needle broke while trying to give you the injection. You need to do MRI of the spine to rule that out. But still go back to the hospital let them check you well.
DeleteThat pain is normal. I had cs too, my boy just turned 1 and it’s recently I stopped feeling that pain.
DeleteI had CS 5months ago and I don't feel the pain talked about. IT IS NOT NORMAL.
DeleteGod help us.
ReplyDeleteAmen. Lord please remember me this month and bless my womb like Hannah and Rachel. Thank you Lord for answered prayers .
