OMG. This is just painful.
ReplyDeleteMy pains is that it is umunna and umunne who did not train anyone will be the ones enjoying this.
It cannot be cancelled. During Abraham generation they paid bride price. So it has come to stay
It's Dowry Stella.
ReplyDeleteI do not like this idea of bride price or Dowry.
A marriage that will stand will still stand, bride price or not.
ReplyDeleteBride price can't be scrapped, not in this generation.
Don't sell ur daughters, but don't give them away like they mean nothing to u...
Too bad the woman died
ReplyDeleteBride price is our culture, but there should be modalities and it shouldn't be pocket tearing.
ReplyDeleteIf anything is there to do away with, it should be white wedding, that's foreign to us.
Africans love to over burden themselves. Whites don't do traditional or bride price wedding they just go straight to white wedding. We should just do our trad/bride price then become couple instead of over bearing expenses because I'm sure money was the issue.
Stella, it's not diary na
ReplyDeleteI thought there's a difference between dowry and bride price?
ReplyDeleteBride price is the one the groom pays to the bride's family while dowry is paid by the bride's family to the groom example is how it's done in India.
Ah my bride price must be paidoooo, though I will beg my parents to lenient with the list...
ReplyDeleteStella O! In indIn it's the other way round, the woman pays the dowry, usually cash, gold, a motorcycle or a car, clothes and full wedding ceremony expenses. The man don't do drop a dime
ReplyDeleteStella na woman dey pay dowry for India
