President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as well as over 68 other presidential candidates, gathered together for the signing of the Peace Accord.
The Peace Accord is an undertaking by all the presidential candidates to ensure peaceful and rancour-free campaigns before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
The candidates are also expected to avoid hate speech, fake news or any act capable of causing socio-political unrest in the country.
The peace accord agreement was brokered by the National Peace Committee, led by Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former Head of State.
However, Presidential candidate of the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, and the leadership and officials of the PDP were absent at the event.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, the Waziri of Adamawa disclosed the reason for his absence, the former Vice President explained that he did not receive any invitation to be part of the event.
“I can confirm that Abubakar did not receive any formal invitation to the signing of the peace pact.”
Other dignitaries at the event included former Head of State, retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon, who presented a keynote address and Head of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, Ambassador Ketil Karlsen.
A similar Peace Accord was signed between former President Goodluck Jonathan and the then APC Presidential Candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, prior to the conduct of the 2015 presidential elections.

DeleteBishop Kukah confirmed Atiku got the invitation and he presented the acknowledgement on Channels tv last night
Your comments don’t even make any sense. What are you even saying?
DeleteI will always ask this “ NAIJA WHICH WAY?”
ReplyDeleteBishop Kukah said he was invited. Gen. Abdulsalam also reiterated that Atiku was invited and even showed the acknowledgement by Uche Secondus.
ReplyDeleteInvited does not mean the letter was sent/delivered to his camp at the end of the day.
Deleteanon 9:01 do u even know what an acknowledgement is?
DeleteAnons 08:35 thank you for making this clear. I also saw it on Channels TV where Bishop Kukah confirméd their invitation to Atiku and the acknowledgment by the PDP National Chairman. If APC claimed that the invitation was sent to Atiku, people would say it is a propaganda. Now they are silent because a whole bishop bursted the lies of PDP. Atiku should say he was scared or didn’t want to face Buhari face to face. Not this cheap lie.
DeleteSo no peace between APC and PDP since Atiku did not participate? This is fight to finish come 2019 elections!if PDP win APC no go gree and vise versa. Na sidon look we dey so.
ReplyDeleteThey ve changed d story. They said there was a mix up at the office. Shior. Something that was received and acknowledged by their chairman. They call APC propagandists. Becoming ckear they are the same. Maybe worse.
ReplyDeleteEzekiel 13 vs 10_=13.
