South African television personality and radio host, Bonang Matheba, on Wednesday, made an appearance in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes court over alleged tax fraud.

    1. It works when you register your business name with CAC. Then you get a corporate/business account in your registered name.

Prepare to get visits from Tax bodies.

    2. You will file for a year's personal income tax at the state board of internal revenue and company tax at FIRS within the first 90days of a new year.
If it's only business name you register, you only pay personal income tax, but if it is a limited liabilility company, you pay both personal income and company tax. That was the understanding I got from a tax consultant recently.

    3. I registered a business name but I use my normal bank so how will I pay tax with that?

    4. You ought to have opened a bank account for your business name where you receive all business related payments. Lumping all the money in your account will expose you to being liable to pay all the taxes related to your business. Including VAT which the tax authority may decide to levy at 5% on the gross amount in your account. Again it does not make business sense and good record keeping sense to lump your business money with your personal money in the same account. No let the FIRS and LIRS pay you a red eye visit o!
