With this development, Dariye who was convicted of fraud crimes, now has fewer years to spend in jail.
The appeal court said while the conviction was right, the former governor should have been jailed for 10 years.
The court scaled down the sentence for criminal breach of trust while a similar conviction for diversion of N1. 62 billion ecological funds was reduced from two years to one year.
The sentences are to run concurrently, like the previous judgement in June, meaning Mr Dariye has now been effectively jailed 10 years.

*They have finally found a way to twist the Law so he can walk free.....They should even show us evidence that he was even jailed because methinks he was placed under house arrest....#SMH@Nigeria.
Good for him
ReplyDeleteBefore you know it he will be pardoned
ReplyDeleteThey wouldn't av reconsidered if it was an ordinary citizen laslas they forget the person in prison to rot in hell
ReplyDeleteSubverting the Law. Diaris God ooooooo
ReplyDeleteThis man's conviction is a witch-hunt. I am not disputing the fact that he, like other ex-governors, embezzled money, all I'm saying is that, as the then governor of Plateau state, he dealt with fulani herdsmen, and he was unapologetic about it.
ReplyDeleteHe and Rev. Jolly Nyame of Taraba state are the only two former governors to be convicted. I support the conviction because I believe they are corrupt. However, when other former muslim governors who are more corrupt than these two are walking freely, it shows that their convictions are religiously motivated.
Buhari only goes after Christians and muslims he has grudges against, and all the time, the moslems go scot-free. Who can name one muslim that has been convicted? None! There is a campaign to oppress northern Christians, but they know they won't succeed if they don't intimidate fearless northern Christians like Joshua Dariye and Rev Jolly Nyame.
I feel sorry for you idiots dropping useless comments like your useless selves, without understanding the dynamics of relgion, tribe and politics in Nigerian religion
My dear I'm from plateau and I can tell you that Dariye did not deal with any fulani during his tenure. If Jang is found guilty he should go to jail too. We can't allow religious centiment affect our sense of judgement.
DeleteIs he the only ex governor that stole money? Our leaders tho. SMH
