MRS DEES CORNER

THE UNGENEROUS GIVERS

Do stingy people ever realize they are miserly in their giving or do they still feel they have done something to be commended for ?

There are people who when they offer you gifts, when you consider who they are and what they have, instead of you to be thankful, you are tempted to outrightly reject it. I know there are people who manage to get by and when they give you their widow's mite, you receive it with joy and gratitude.

My mum is a widow and once in a while , when we were quite young someone would reach out to her with cash or food items. Trust me, those
moments were well savored by us. However, there was a particular woman in church who got us weary with her giving that we practically had to avoid receiving anything from her.

During the Yuletide season, she would inform my mum after the close of service, to the hearing of one or two church members around that she wants her to come visit her at home that she has something for her. My mum would joyfully and hurriedly leave for her house and we at home would be eagerly anticipating her return with the hope that she'd come back with enough food to spice up our Christmas. We would be expecting to at least see her carrying a nylon bag only to see her clutching a small nylon in her hands.

When she disappointingly drops the nylon, we would all scramble to open it only to see about two cups of rice and a bulb of onion not even enough to feed two persons.

Other times, she would give me her shoes and after wearing it twice, the material with which the shoes were made would peel off. They were expired. Note that the shoes always looked okay when she gave it to us. We began to wonder how she knew the shoes were about to expire before 'dashing' it out.

The only shoes she gave me that didn't peel off were her son's. You know those shoes that are unisex but still look more masculine than feminine. I wore it to church and everyone looked at my feet weirdly. A particular "brother " I had a huge crush on told me after church service "Nne shoe nke gi a amaka." I practically felt like disappearing in my 'akpola' shoes. I had to stop wearing them and my younger brother rubbed the embarrassment in when I gave him the shoes and he exclaimed "Tufiakwa!!! onye chinyere gi agwo ndu a?"

Stingy people are a total turn-off.

Please next time,You should translate any language you use for the benefit of those who do not understand other Languages.

I understand what you mean but,a gift is a gift and i dont think anyone has a right feeling disappointed with what is given.....The level of entitlement mentality in Nigeria is overwhelming........Some people might have to have to have but have nothing and when they give out of widows mite you will refuse?i dont get it!!!

COMMENT SECTION RANT

I was so looking forward to wedding night so that I can unleash all I have learnt from mills and booms, harlequin and movies but now I don't look forward to it again. I want to leave boo as BV'S suggested cos of Erectile Dysfunction but he keeps using you don't love me phrase to mess up my head.

He will always start crying saying we can find a cure together. I am in a delinma and what if I don't find any nice guy like him again if I leave him? is gbenshing that important in marriage? Now I wish I have had s#x before so I can at least enjoy before settling for him.

Even if it is not important in Marriage, please do not marry a man with E-Dysfunction.let him go and get treatment and be sure he is OK before any moves......You will be frustrated if you try it.

A broke ass brother and a bro with ED are the most loyal hubbys but all na wash.....

    3. Exactly, distance doesn't separate people, it's d lack of communication in a long distance relationship that does that.

    4. I think I will go with 14:11. There are some emotional needs distance can't help.

      Delete
    5. @14:11 Not forcing the quote on you but i'm just here wondering if there's any corner of the earth one can't go to if determined to see a loved one. Also do you know that people can be living under same roof yet there's a great distance between them becos of lack of communication.

      @ Eka: You gorrit

@Teejay:Your point would have been clearer with examples but whatever the case maybe communicating ones feelings help ease up emotional tension/frustration in a relationship.(Relationship here is not restricted to just opposite sex,it could be between family members or friends of same sex).

  3. We need to accept that we won’t always make the right decisions, that we’ll screw up royally sometimes understanding that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success. Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve. Work harder than everybody. You’re not going to get it by whining, and you’re not going to get it by shouting, and you’re not going to get it by quitting. You’re going to get it by being there.

  13. Household Items You Might Never Knew Had Expiration Dates....

When we go shopping for groceries, the first thing we usually do is check the expiration dates on the products we buy. However, there are certain items in our homes that to not have their expiration date written. This does not mean that they will last forever. Sometimes, even when they are in neat condition these common items can be harmful.

    BEDROOM
    Pillows: 2-3 years
It is very important for the pillows to be changed regularly. Not only they lose the comfortness, but also, they become an unbelievable home for dust mites.

    Slippers: 6 months
The slippers need to be changed from time to time because they can spread fungal infections. Some types of slippers can be washed without them falling apart.

    Happy birthday beautiful Chioma

  17. Yesterday I was quite disappointed reading comments on who should visit first in a long distance relationship. Everyone was just joining the bandwagon and screaming guys. Even the ladies that visited first and now successfully married are screaming guys.

It's high time we realise that there's no standard formula for a long lasting relationship. What A will do and will work for him or her doesn't mean same will work for B.

Where's your offense that someone you've been seeing for a while asks that u finally come to his base to see him.

It's okay if work or something else keeping you occupied won't let you and if he's the more flexible one, he should. Don't say because one woman or women on SDK blog says it's wrong, u will not now come and go. You may just be missing out on one of the very few good guys left.

Let's take for instance, as a girl still living with your family member, ur boyfriend who has a place of his own in another state invites u to come over, u will now expect him to come, pay tfare, rent hotel just to come see you when he could have spent less on ur tfare and have extra cash to even say thanks for coming 😊.

Me I visited my then boyfriend (now fiance) first, infact, all the times we saw in Nigeria, na me dey first go. And look where we are today, I am marrying the best man alive.

Don't let miss road feminists mislead u as a lady. There's nothing wrong with u going to visit ur boyfriend first. He will only maltreat you cos he's a bad person not cos you visited him first.

    3. Hanty the post didn't say boyfriend instead someone you have been talking with online, there is a difference. Talking or chatting with someone online doesn't mean you fully know what the person is capable of and as a lady visting the person is at owners risk

      Delete
    4. I hear you loud and clear but l have come to see that it makes more sense if the man does the 1st visit. Most men l have spoken to don't seem to appreciate much if the woman visits first. That it worked for you doesn't mean it works for a lot of babes. Look at madam Benin. It didn't pay her one bit.

Please can anyone recommend the way thing to use and kill them?

    6. That specie is really difficult to terminate (it's like they don't grow beyond that stage). What you should do is, clear out all their hideouts. Every corner you notice they breed, scatter anything there. All they need is a dark breeding space, that's all. Once it's clear, you won't see them again. Thank me later.

    9. Please use Greenleaf, it works like magic. It's N50 for one satchet. Just put some amount in areas you have noticed them. In less than a week I assure you of results.
Looks like those kind of cockroaches are immune against other insecticides. I know how much I spent on insecticides trying to control them.

  45. Dear Aunty Stella, you are so correct about broke men and men with ED being super nice. I was married to one for more than 4yrs. To be honest, I sampled the thing a few times before marriage. First he said it was stress. Then it was the guilt of premarital sex. This guy was very churchy and acted really nice and sweet. Plus I use to trust blindly. I always take your yes as yes. So I believed. And we went celibate till marriage. Wedding night was a nightmare. That was how the frustration started.
I can't even begin to tell how frustrating it was battling daily to get the thing to get erect even if it's just a bit whether he can enter and come inside at least, cos naturally I wanted a baby. But at some point I had to ask myself if it was a baby that was more important or my sanity.
To make it worse, while I was gradually losing my mind with the whole frustration, he was busy having fun with himself.
It turned out he was a good pretender, liar and actor. This guy can masturbate it was so crazy. All he wanted was his weird porn collections and his limp dick, shaking it up and down till he comes.
When the whole truth came out, he quietly advised me to get some sex toys cos he was tired of trying to please me. I wouldn't have mind adopting children as he also suggested, but having to fuck sex toys all my life, I just couldn't think of it. If you have been in a marriage where sex was practically non existent, you will know sex is important in marriage. I quietly packed my bag and left before I go insane.

    2. I'm in a relationship like this, been trying to move on but Im already advancing in age and no serious person has approached me, so I keep going back. He keeps telling me he will take drugs that will make him perform but nothing has changed. I'm tired of being patient with him. With your experience, I have to make up my mind to move on and not look back.
