PUNCH Metro learnt that Mbadugha, who hired the guards from Strongcity Security Services, was allegedly attacked while working at his office on Johnvic Igbanogo Street, in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, in a statement on Monday, said the command mobilised operatives to rescue Mbadugha and arrest the suspects.
He added that the suspects, during interrogation, said they connived with others at large to rob the victim for not paying their salaries as and when due
Oti said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, had directed the head of the command’s intelligence unit to fish out the fleeing members of the gang.

You will expect a Lawyer to know better,This country grooms the citizens on crime,Why will you employ someone & find it difficult to pay the salary? The boss might be going Abroads for headache ooooo, either a pastor or an Alfa.
ReplyDeleteIf you check well he cannot pay more than 15k each. Mtsheeew. Rubbish.
DeleteWhy would teenagers be working as security guards. Are they not supposed to be in school? Hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteNo offense and I’m not condoning crime but having worked for corporate America for some time and being an employer of labor in a developed country, I have a hard time processing how you can owe for work already done. It should be a crime to owe anybody more than the next paycheck. When Babangida was owing my parents, he turned me, a young 20 year old into a breadwinner for a family whose breadwinner was a holder of multiple degree and who had worked over 30 years. How these “ big Nigerian ogas sleep at night knowing their employees may not be able to feed their families beats my imagination. I’d rather not collect my own pay than owe those that work for me. It’s time we all live within our means. If you can’t afford a driver or maid which means you can’t pay the meager minimum wage then please don’t pretend to have what the joneses (who are also probably pretending) have. Drive yourself. You will hardly see any car in American cities except uber, taxis and limousines with someone sitting in the .”owner’s corner”. A chauffeur or driver makes over $3k here and you won’t even pay the miserable amount you are paying on time? He is also a criminal here I’m sorry. Pay your domestic employees or do your work yourself. You are no big man or woman. Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah all drive themselves. In fact Warren flies economy and he owns the largest private jet company on earth. Humility is alien to a lot of us. That’s why we must make other people’s children bath and get our kids to school while not being concerned about the kid taking care of your kids future. She is someone’s child too. Pay your bills. Stop posing!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm October is ending and we are yet to receive September salary. Employers please pay salaries as and when due. It helps your employees plan, organize their lives and be mentally fit to do your job. If you don't pay, they are not even engaged. They just pretend that they are working. In the long wrong your organization is the biggest loser. This philosophy of owing salaries is part of the reason Nigerian Companies don't attain great heights in the corporate world.
ReplyDeletecant pay salaries yet oga and family will be living fine and doing big man..only in naija business owners must drive big cars, live in big house and be seen as the oga...all profit made must go into the image of the CEO/MD...big men bg men yet you hardly see 3 generation businesses in naija
ReplyDeleteI'm commenting here because of Stella's comment. What's wrong with employing adults as security personnel? Isn't it funny how we speak from both sides of the mouth on this blog? "Get a job and fend for yourself" and "how can teenagers be employed as security personnel?" SMH
