In an interview with Israeli TV Channel 1, Kanu said he was “smuggled out” of the country with the help of relatives.
In the interview, Kanu alleged that 28 persons were killed during the army operation which was largely felt around his father’s residence in Umuahia, Abia state. “When I came out (of prison), I continued to preach to my people. I continued to practise my Jewish religion,” he said. “And one day, the Nigerian army came to my house to kill me. They killed 28 people in their attempt to kill me.
“My people evacuated me before they came to my bedroom. They took me away and smuggled me out of Nigeria. I needed some time to recover which I did and then, had to make my way to Israel.” The IPOB leader added that he feels “relieved” that he “managed to make it” to Israel, “the only place I feel safe in the world.” He said he could have gone back to England (where he had been for years) “but I still don’t feel safe in England. That is why I stayed back in Israel.”

He is not my hero dear, neither am I a register member of IPOB, rather I believe in the cause of justice and equity to all. Remember, I am among those campaigning, believing for a restructure Nigeria through Atiku/Obi. The fact I often speak and comment about Kanu and the Biafra course doesn't mean I will go against the general interest of the Igbo nation. I believe in the agitation to address the abnormalities in the system but some approaches I frown at.

In as much as I frowned at whatever led to the killings of the pro Biafran group members, my sympathy goes to various families that lost their love ones at those point in time but are we justifying the killings by the military? Why are we like this in this country?
ReplyDeleteThe nine years boy killed was he armed? Was sit at home a call to war or to be killed? Did anyone engaged the army with arms? The 28 people killed, weren't they inside a compound.
The same way they have been killing the Shittes protesters and sane Nigerians are keeping quiet. What is their justification to kill people without arms? When has protest become a crime in Nigeria? Is Nigeria at war? What is the duty of the military? Are they suppose to be deploy internally or to fight external aggression?
I just don't get it why the military are exonerated for killing with impunity. Wasn't the Eastern region peaceful? Was there need for the Python dance? Why are they running from the north East in the fight against Boko Haram? We should call a spade a spade not minding whose ox is gored. The military are beginning to act unprofessionally.

Sad Igbos never learn. The same way Ojukwu ran away and his people suffered. Quite unbelievable that when this Kanu joker started they followed him. He escaped and left his people. History could have easily repeated itself. While there may be merits to the Biafra agitation, it's stupidity to allow someone wake up one morning and use people and play with their lives. People died but Kanu escaped instead of igbos to sit down and think they would rather blame hausas for the war or Yorubas for abandoning them instead of thinking why it's easy for any jack to use them. They people that died because of kanu died for nothing, their education, business acumen and the greatness awaiting them all down in the grave. Yet , he kept his family safe.

Not all individuals from the geographical location seen as Biafra from the civil war era belong to IPOB.
