Native Doctors ET AL Stage Protest Over Alleged Change Of 'NEPA' Operational License In Benin -Photos

The civil society, communities and electricity consumers on Monday gathered in their numbers to protest in Benin city, Edo state against the purported plan to renew the operational license of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).

The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Civil Society Organizations (EDOSCO), Osaze Edigin said the peaceful demonstration which will last for three days is to draw the BPE attention to the “incompetence of the distribution company.”

Osaze said the Performance Agreement the company entered with the Federal Government elapses on the 31st of October, 2018 and not the proposed extension of December, 2019 by the BPP.

He further disclosed that “BEDC operational Licence must not be extended or renewed. BPP and NERC cannot be compromised”.

  6. What do they need electricity for. I thought they check glass and use cowries to communicate with their ancestors.

  7. Honestly, BEDC is the worst DISCO in the country. They bring the most ridiculous bills and have refused to share meters to people in Ekiti state. They prefer giving you estimated bills and disconnecting your electricity at will. The Osibodu woman is not fit to head any organization much less a company that affects the citizenry. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

    1. They are all the same oh, EEDC is doing same thing to us. So they are about to revoke their license? No wonder they have been giving us steady power supply since this October!

    2. The same thing AEDC is doing, giving people outrageous estimated bills and at any given time, they will come and disconnect you. If you pay some amount they will ask you to pay up all the bills, without thinking about the situation of things.

  8. Lest I forget, they are in court with Ekiti Landlord Association. Give people meters or bring reasonable bills!

  14. May God deliver Nigeria from this gross darkness that is ravaging us. Honestly speaking the power failure in most part of Nigeria has thrown many Nigerians out of business n sent them back to their villages. Only Jesus the Light of the world can truly give us steady light in this nation. Switch over to Jesus now u will have an etetnal light. These native doctors need an inner light for true n genuine repentance.
