The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has sworn in 11 newly elected Local Government Chairmen despite protests across some councils in the State.
The event, which took place at the Twin theatre, governor’s office, followed the conduct of Wednesday’s Local government elections, which the All Progressives Congress won in 11 of the 13 local government areas where the polls took place.
The results of Mangu and Langtang North have been declared as inconclusive.
According to dailypost,While swearing-in the chairmen, the Governor said he was mindful of the dispute created by politicians over the outcome of election, but has enjoined, “all well meaning citizens of Plateau State who feel dissatisfied with the outcome of the election result to channel their grievances to the Elections Petition Tribunal.”
The swearing-in of the Chairmen is coming at a time the outcome of the election generated widespread protests by the opposition who felt their mandate had been stolen from them.
Elections in this country always have a complain on it. The rate of electoral fraud is on the high side that one will ask to what end and purpose is it all about.
