Gov Ambode Rejects APC Primaries Result

Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has rejected results from Tuesday’s All Progressives Congress Primary election.

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State on Tuesday night declared Babajide Sanwo-Olu as winner of the gubernatorial primary election held in the State.

The chairman of the party in the state, Tunji Balogun made the declaration at the state headquarters of the party in Ogba, Ikeja, on Tuesday night.

Although the exercise was declared cancelled by the party’s National Working Committee, the State chapter went ahead to declare the former commissioner winner.

Reacting to the development, Ambode Campaign Organisation in a statement on Tuesday night, said the Governor had not conceded any defeat as primary election had yet to hold in Lagos State.

In the statement, the organisation argued that there were guidelines and procedures which the NWC said must follow in conducting a credible poll and which were not followed.

“Ambode has not conceded any defeat as primary election is yet to hold in Lagos State following guidelines.

“These include the usage of membership slips and membership cards by registered party members, as well as the adoption of secret ballot system which protects the electorate.

“The NWC came from Abuja with sufficient ballot papers which have yet to be distributed. As a loyal and responsible party member and a democrat, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is guided by the process announced by the party and shall await the new date of the governorship primary election,” the statement read in part.

  2. A drowning man will always hold onto the very last minute. It's hard giving up power mostly when you haven't done well. Even with all the plea from Mr President and the Vice, Asiwaju mind was already made up. Sometimes I get upset remembering how Ambode and his wife treated the government house chaplain even with all the pleadings by people to him but he refused and humiliated the minister with a sack. Who still remember what that minister said then including the elders of the church? Ambode and wife really hurt so many people. There is always a day of judgement and reckoning.

    1. Teejay, a hug from me to you!

I may not totally agree with Tinubu's political ideology and games, but on this Ambode's issue, he did what serves Ambode right.

The true color of a man comes to bare on assumption of Power or Money. The moment he got there, he built a wall of "fire" around himself, forgetting one tree cant make a forest. His greatest undoing started from the very beginning. You sacked a Man of God and threw his belongings out, on the account of your proud egoistic wife? And you expect the same God to save you? With Ambode, even his wife must be worshipped, sad!

Yes Tinubu is overbearing, we all know that. It takes wisdom to deal with a powerful man like that. Even Fashola a quiet governor had problems with him. Fashola's saving grace was that the people stood up for him. He was a man of the people. Provided you will work, you will always chop under Fashola, but not with Ambode.

Kingmakers are always more powerful than the kings themselves. This should be a lesson to all.

  8. Leadership is about making a place or something or someone better than you met it/them. Ambode is leaving Lagos worse than he left it. Lagos is extremely dirty. Why stop a good system if not to make it better yet for his own selfish reason , he introduced visionscape.

Nigerians are now so used to mediocrity. If we keep sending out underperforming leaders like Ambode and Buhari immediately after their tenure, you ll be surprised how seriously the leaders will begin to take their citizens but then, what do I know.

    1. Please how do you then explain Tinubu's insistence that Nigerians still vote for Buhari? Has Buhari done well in your opinion? It is just a question.

  9. 100 people cannot be wrong about a person. Even your deputy stood with the decision of the party, this shows that Ambode isn't a true progressive. You have just destroyed your political career. If you like, go and do another press conference so you can jam talk. Make them do another election, Sanwoolu go still beat you mercilessly. Waist Trainer governor.
