Atiku Donates N10m To Families Of Victims Of Abia Pipeline Explosion

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has donated N10 million to Abia government to assist families of victims of pipeline explosion in Umuimo and Umuaduru communities in Osisioma Local Government.

The money was donated on behalf of the Atiku Campaign Organisation. The Waziri Adamawa also commiserated with the people and government of the State over the fatal pipeline explosion.

A delegation led by the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP and former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, on behalf of Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday visited the affected communities. He was accompanied by Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and other officials of the state.

According to Obi, the news of the fire disaster is very devastating and it is particularly touching that so many lives were lost to the incident. Obi said that the incident should raise the red flag for proper safety measures along all pipeline beds across the country.

Reports said that no fewer than 24 persons were confirmed dead in at Umuaduru and Umuimo villages in the area. The speaker also commiserated with those that lost their loved ones in the fire and promised that government would initiate necessary measures to forestall a recurrence.

  1. Good one the President to be. Atiku is surely playing his card nicely. Already assuming the Presidential role, and I am not sure if Mr President has said a word about this or even send condolence to the state and families affected. I stand to be corrected if he has. Good way to go Atiku/Obi

NOTE: Before reading this, read this as someone who wants .................

In 1977, wole Soyinka wrote in his book, " the man died".... -the man who died is he who fails to speak up in the face of tyranny "

In April 16,1963 , Martin Luther King Jr said in his prison declaration speech... " more and more I feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than have the people of good will. We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and action of the bad people, BUT FOR THE APPALLING SILENCE OF THE GOOD PEOPLE. "
    I could remember months ago,
when youths were chanting, to take the country back from genrontocracy , but now they ignore the young people who are bold enough to challenge this old recycled politicians (mind my choice of words, that is simply what they are). And now the option a lot of young Nigerians see is another black kettle to replace another black kettle, because the previous black kettle rubbed black spot on them. Now who is fooling who? The politicians or yourself?
During British colonial administration in Nigeria, the British never took Nigerians seriously in policy making and involvement in government , until something happened in 1945, Nigerians came together in unity and declared a 37days strike which shocked the Colonialist, they were surprised on the powers Nigerians have when they are united and organized. Which was one of the factors interelia that led to the drafting of another constitution in 1946.
The youths of Nigeria, months ago voiced out their apathy towards Gerontocracy, now when it is close to actualizing that dream, some people are swayed all because of some sweet talk, photographs, ethnicity, religion, publicity stunts, money.... for verily verily I say unto you, except we look beyond the above listed and affirm ourselves that we have made up our mind, no turning back.
I say to you, if you set your mind on a better Nigeria with an ideology and you look back, you are not ready for a better Nigeria.
We made a plan to eradicate Gernotocracy and bad leadership. which should be our major goal right now, not even manifesto should be our major concern. The point is we want to send a message, a revolution, a revival, a reforming to the political sector that we have power given by democracy. Lowell said, " it is not yet democracy until the people know the power they have and act on it". Our goal should be ,
we want to send a message,
we want to unite to put a youth there,
we want them to be shocked about the power we posses when we unite to achieve something.
When they see the power we posses, then, they will take us serious and work for the purpose in which government was created ,which Aristotle classified as the normal government.
The time for you to awaken your common sense is now, if you don't want your children to meet this kind of Nigeria, where the masses are taken for granted, where Oligarchs takes their own interests above the general interest, where people steal the money and resources that are meant for the welfare of others, where the good living of a thousand people becomes the opportunity cost for one man's superfluous living . If you think this set of old conservative recycled politicians , will change the status quo in which they are benefiting from, to the general good, then you are not ready for a better Nigeria.
An Ignorant selfish Nigerian says , " our votes doesn't count, so let us sell our vote to the highest bidder" (money
politics) , have you ever sat down for a moment and wonder, why a politician will spend billions buying your vote when he or she knows that it does not count (common sense).
Even if we do not win in 2019, we have to send a message with the numbers we are going to pull in unity at the polling unit, so they can see the power we possess when united.

  6. Thank you Mr. President.
But why give it to Abia government? You'd have given it directly to the affected families. I don't trust that government, their aprico game is top notch. Wuruwuru things.
